It’s officially a New Moon in Capricorn on January 1, 2014 at 6:13 a.m. EST.
Happy New Year everyone!
What a year 2013 has been. Now we get to start an all new journey through the cosmos, wandering through the zodiac, travelling around our beloved Sun.
For many 2013 was a year of big changes, and personal changes, many of which were on the home front. People moved away, or moved in. Some got new homes, while others worked on upgrading and making personal changes to already existing establishments where home, career and education were all emphasized.
2013 felt like a very reactive year for many, where what happened felt more fated and out of one’s control to varying degrees. Dealing with consequences and trying to figure out the best approach to overcome obstacles was at the forefront of many peoples lives. For many, letting go of 2013 is quite welcome.
2014 starts off with an emphasis on starting brand new. With the New Moon in Capricorn starting us right out of the gate on January 1st, the new year is going to be an ambitious one for many.
With the New Moon kicking off the year of fresh starts with a grand cross there is a lot of energy instilled in us to reach for the sky with determination. The Sun, Moon, Pluto and Mercury are all in close proximity and joining forces in earth sign Capricorn, while standing across the sky from Jupiter in water sign Cancer. Meanwhile, Mars in air sign Libra stands across the sky from Uranus in fire sign Aries. That’s a lot of cardinal energy interacting with one another, pushing and pulling forces of all the elements. Initiation is emphasized.
Be conscious that there is intensity with this configuration, so do you best to interpret communication, including body language and tone. Your initial interpretation may not be what was intended by the other person and vice versa. Be kind in your words as well as your interpretation of what others mean. It's always good to give the benefit of the doubt and see what was said from a lighter perspective.
When the Sun enters the sign of Capricorn on December 21st, it is the shortest day of the year. From then on, as we enter into the new year, the days become longer. The Sun reaches higher in the sky to shine more light on us and sets it’s sights on earth awakening and growing in life in spring and summer. This natural cycle in our lives is symbolic of our own internal process and desire to grow, reach higher up the mountain and to bring more light into our lives. As we awaken to the light, we realize who we are capable of being.
What this New Moon really boils down to is how this year is asking us to get focused and be highly goal oriented so we can grow and achieve our desires. With the Sun, Moon and Mercury next to Pluto in Capricorn, this shows us the beginning of great transformation in our lives. We can rise from the ashes of what was and plant seeds in the fertile soil of our life, so we can grow in time.
Every year people try to think of New Year’s resolutions and get overwhelmed by a long list of what to work on to improve oneself. Year after year, the prospect quickly fades for many as it all seems so daunting. However, this year, there is a stronger desire to achieve and acknowledge your potential.
To get it right this year, to be able to achieve your goals, having a big picture that feels personal and comforting is important. Someone you may look up to as a role model that demonstrates the methods and actions necessary to ascend the ladder towards their goals can help you realize that it is possible for you to achieve what you set your mind to.
And that’s an important point. What you set your mind to really impacts the outcome, so you need to focus. You need to make clear, conscious decisions about how you are going to climb that mountain. The big picture is one thing, but learning the steps to get there is how it’s going to happen. Without the steps, it will only remain a vision. To materialize you have to do what’s necessary in the material level of action and reaction, cause and effect. It all starts with inspiration and willpower.
With Venus retrograde, also in Capricorn, we are reminded to acknowledge how loving yourself and loving what you do is paramount to being able to reach your goals. Letting go of critical self-judgment is really important to achieve your desires. You need to ensure you give yourself more credit. This also points to your ability to see beauty in the world, and in yourself, and how that draws prosperity towards your life as you reach for your goals. Your frame of mind about yourself and how you embody self-love means everything.
Some of you know, deep down, what you need to change about yourself in order to get to where you want to go. But, much of it also has to do with accepting who you are today and being willing to be honest with yourself about what you want and why you want it. Life is always about change. You can start fresh and new with this New Moon, and let go of the mental baggage that hinders you from being fair with yourself. It’s important to not think poorly of yourself for what you’ve done or where you’ve been. Now is a new day to accept and move forward with positive intentions. Karma can always change when you set your intention for it to change.
Thinking big and positive and caring for yourself helps you move forward. Jupiter wants you to care about yourself now. Other people can remind you and inspire you to realize how big you can take your vision for the future. Other people’s ideas can be catalysts to your own brainstorming.
With Mars and Uranus in opposition there can be an intensity that prods impulsiveness, even anger as motivation to create change. Use that energy to good ends to further you in your goals.
For some people, you may feel like others are nagging you by reminding you that you are spending too much time on distractions instead of on things they know would make you feel more fulfilled with your time. You’ve probably verbalized at one time or another that you know you’re procrastinating and wasting time on certain things, and can do better. Others may remind you of that now. If it gets under your skin, because it’s true but you’re stuck in the cycle, step back and think logically about why you are getting distracted instead of fulfilling your potential by doing something more meaningful. Instead of taking it personally and reacting defensively, acknowledge their statements and ask yourself how you can use their point of view to fuel you to get to where you want to go.
Some people may be very reactive, and over-reactive now to anything that suddenly throw them off guard. Cranky impulses are possible for those who are easily swayed by external forces.
It’s also important to note that Saturn continues to reach out to Jupiter, so for many the big picture requires patience and acceptance of the passage of time while the connection to the vision for our lives grows.
As you move towards your goals and figure out the process, you will become more comfortable with the steps and hurdles that mold your life path. Your conscious actions and reactions fueled by desire and honesty determines the development of the bigger picture you have for your life.
Start the new year off right by create a personal mission statement for your year, and set goals that will make you feel personal satisfaction. You deserve the pleasure that achievement instills.
Your ingenuity, stamina and stimulation will be rewarded with a growing sense of empowerment.
Happy New Year!
