Taurus is a sign associated with the material world, earth as well as money. A spotlight is now highlighting these types of considerations.
With Venus now in Capricorn, money matters, consideration of value, leadership and larger implications are in focus. Today I want to talk a bit more about money. I talk more about other areas of focus in the new Weekly Horoscope.
Money is a part of our survival and our identities, and thus can bring up a lot of issues regarding the ego. With the Sun in Scorpio, debt and banking, behavior and psychological implications regarding money matters is highlighted. Jealousy, fear and envy are some of the lower qualities of a reactive ego that can be brought to the surface regarding money as well.
Living in the physical world we all need to acquire physical items for survival: food, clothing and shelter primarily. Once we have those set, we then move on to our wants. This is the ascent up the metaphorical pyramid of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs to feel satisfied and fulfilled in living our lives.
Wants vary from person to person, and unfortunately personal wants can sometimes supercede how we relate to others. Sometimes when people are dealing with money, they become selfish, protective and even manipulative of how they are ensuring more for themselves in comparison to others.
Money is a tricky subject, it’s complicated and never truly provides stability. Although money can allow us to acquire many things when we have it, it is a highly transient and doesn’t last. It comes and goes.
Money can never truly bring security because the value of money is always fluctuating. Even if you have money tucked away in a safe or under your mattress, what those dollars can buy will be different today than they will be in the future. Fluctuations in the market, inflation, deflation, debt, interest rates, are always tugging and pulling the value of money in different directions… money is more like a roller coaster ride than a stable platform.
Yet, too many put all their faith in money and the acquirement of it, as if it is the most important thing in the world, as if it were a god or a savior from all the world’s problems. But money is a manmade construct with many flaws.
Having money, or not, does all kinds of things to people’s personalities. If you don’t have it, you’ll worry, if you do have it you may feel content for a while, and if you have a lot of it you may end up with an elitist, or narcissistic personality.
Getting back to the earth… Some people these days are trying to find ways to live off the grid, to move away from the havoc of a changing financial system, to try to find self defining stability. Though these types are usually not 100% off the grid these days, they do make an effort to become less dependent on a system that is highly changeable. Growing their own food, acquiring solar energy from the sun, digging their own wells, watering their gardens and small farms, using the natural elements around them to create a sustainable life. These are the types that are truly looking for security and creating it based off their connection to the earth.
This is far off the beaten path for many, but if there were to be a drastic swing in the financial system for whatever reason, these types would largely go unscathed as they are building their own security blanket from the ground up that allows for real independence.
Living off the grid may not be ideal for most of us who want to be plugged in and connected, but it is good food for thought.
Does money truly give you a sense of security? Money can be here one minute and gone the next. The trick with money, is that it needs to be managed, and with management comes all kind of rules and details that need to be addressed. The more money you have, the more complicated money management gets.
If you think the very rich are secure, think again. Having lots of money can make life even much more complicated than you’d think. The richest are those that need the most security to protect themselves from theft. They may also worry about being sued, especially if they are acquiring their money in less than honest ways. When you have lots of money you’ll need to find ways to try to keep it as stable as possible and growing, have people you trust deal with handling the money...
It is the very nature of money that it causes insecurity. My point is that money can never truly provide anyone with a real sense of security. Even the Queen of England had to tighten her purse strings. Though the richest may flaunt their wealth with lavish cars, clothes and homes, there is never true security found in money.
When you hear people say, “I want to be a billionaire. I want to be rich…” they may not really be thinking it all the way through. Life usually gets a lot more complicated for people when they win the lottery.
Though many believe money is abundance, it is actually the earth that provides true abundance. The earth blooms, blossoms and gives us food, water and shelter, without asking for anything in return.
