Chinese New Year 2012 Water Dragon

Happy Chinese New Year! It is the Year of the Water Dragon. The New Year begins on the New Moon in the Chinese lunisolar calendar. The months are relative to the moon cycles, and each month begins on the New Moon.

Each month is 29 or 30 days according to the moon cycle, calculated in 12 month astrology cycles. To coincide with the Solar calendar, every few years a 13 month is added.

The Chinese New Year usually ranges from January 21 to February 21 each year according to the moon cycles.

2012 is the year of the dragon which happens once every 60 years. There are 12 animal associated with the months: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Boar.

The Celebrations of the Chinese new year last 15 days, until the Full Moon is present. The last day is celebrated as the Lantern Festival where families carry lit, often artfully designed, lanterns in the streets.

The Mythic Dragon is considered a divine creature symbolizing prosperity, good fortune, strength, honor and respectability. They are fearless, ambitious, confident and driven for success. Dragons symbolize freedom and are to be uninhibited, although they are able to give authoritative direction. Dragons can exude over-confidence, boastfulness and pride as well as show a quick temper. They are active, brave and passionate.

This year’s water influence calms the flames and can provide a honing of skills that are creative and imaginative. A great time to focus on your artistic pursuits. Pride and conceit are toned down, allowing common vision to coalesce when working with others. Don’t let your productivity fizzle. Follow through with action, complete projects and do research to be well informed and developed in your efforts.

Bring calm to your fiery side so you don’t burn out. Drink plenty of water to cleanse your body. Pick up a healthy routine to alleviate stress stay emotionally balanced. Be careful with money. Don’t burn a hole in your pocket on a whim.

It will be a year of growth. A balanced temperament will help you enjoy the changes. It’s a great year for New beginnings. Nourish them with an eye on success.

Procrastination now can be paralyzing to a positive outlook. “Why do it now when I can do it later?” is truly a procrastinators motto and will lead to a slipper slope of feeling behind and unproductive which will add extra stress.

It’s best to keep your mind ambitious and geared to succeed through action now.

St. John’s wort is a natural way to help get you through the blue moments, but you have to be proactive to feel good about yourself. Start a routine that is healthy. You won’t regret it.

Essential Oils of Cypress , German Chamomile, Clary Sage, Eucalyptus, Fennel, Fir, Lavender, Lime, Niaouli, Patchouli, and Pine are all good choices to use in your bath or infuse into your environment now.

Transforming opinions on religion and mysticism will become more easily assimilated into people’s world view naturally.

If you’ve found winter to be something you’ve disliked for many years, this year you may have a change of heart and see the beauty in all the seasons. Each giving you a fresh perspective on how you relate to the cycles of life.

It’s a hopeful time. The Suns rays are bringing with them more clarity on your individuality, and will carry you into a more spiritual point of view over the next few weeks. How you see yourself in the world, your purpose and how you affect and influence others becomes more real, yet ethereal.

If you want your long term goals to succeed, now is a good time to focus on planning your way there. Money matters are always a part of life whether you’re rich or poor. Most of us are on a sliding scale anywhere in between. Focusing instead on your happiness than solely the number crunching lifts your spirits so you can be a success in life, rather than the rat race. Merge your feelings into creating wealth as a reflection of a more spiritually centered view of life.

Keep your opinions open about your love life now. Allowing others to be human without you conceptualizing their follies is important now. A more spiritual approach to why relationships are really important to you will be more fulfilling. It’s not important to envision who would be the ideal partner, or how one would fit into that ideal, for your fulfillment now. Instead, be more in the now and enjoying feeling centered in who you are and who others are individually. See others quirks as qualities rather than faults.

At night, tune into your intuition. Staying up late in candle lit rooms with incense will open you up to new ideas. Let them grow as the new moon starts to wax. Reconnect with the life giving importance and sacredness of water now. Drink plenty of water to refresh and cleanse your body. Creating an environment in your bathroom that reflects a self-care, holistic spa experience can bring you into the embrace of the divine feminine.

Take baths or showers with essential oils that are earthy to combine the water and earth elements. Cedarwood, Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Jasmine, Myrrh, Sandalwood are all great choices to balance body, mind and spirit now.

Are you dissatisfied with the direction your life is, or has been, going in? Do you feel like you’ve been passive in areas of your life and are now need to become more decisive and direct? Ambitions, talents and practical goals all intertwine now with our emotions. Use your intuition to know what is the right direction for you. Trust your gut.

Do you believe in what you have to offer? Do you know your talents? Do you feel like you’re not living up to your abilities? You can approach your life open to trusting it will unfold as it should, or you can worry. Any worries that do arise can be as temporary, or lengthy, as you allow your emotions to go there. There is no rush in the 9 months it takes from conception to birth. Nature works in it’s own time. Tune into this larger truth, and trust the process of your life. You may often forget, but you are a part of a grander nature.

It’s time to reevaluate your reasons for your goals from a more centered perspective. Write down your ideas, goals, wishes, hopes, dreams, talents, abilities, as well as everything that you love and believe about yourself.

2012 begins with us feeling emotionally attached to our reality. Don’t expect a lightning bolt to fall from the sky, changing everything into gold for you. You’re more likely to create a meaningful transformation deep in your core through decisiveness and trusting your life through a more spiritually guided purpose. Merge your logic with your emotions now. Be smart about what your feelings are telling you. Ask yourself the why’s, how’s and what’s. Then color them all with what inspires you.

Don’t expect some external event to magically give you all the answers. You have to go within to find them. A lot of people depend on something outside to change to make the difference in their lives. Waiting around to win the lottery can leave you waiting a lifetime. You can’t swallow a magic pill to get what you want. If you could, it would still always wear off. Don’t be dependent on externalities. You have to do the work in this life, going deep inside, seeking a higher truth only accessible within.

In love, although there is some shyness and inhibition in the air Venus opens her arms with magnetism to deeper spiritual relationships built on trust and adoration.

Feeling creative? Dig into your paints, pencils. Listen to music that inspires you. It’s a great time to see what can emerge from your subconscious.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20):
Even the only child finds people who act as surrogate siblings. Whether cousins or neighbors, these are the first people we share a secret language with, and learn our primary social exchange. One of your surrogate siblings asks for your help now. Take it as a chance to re-bond.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20):
The week holds a strong financial tone. You’re considering the best way forward in a momentary matter. It may require you to step outside your comfort zone and ask for the raise you want. You’re being shown the value of respecting your worth and asking for what you want.
