Authentic members get more access by simply posting 5 new posts. These initial posts are moderated. Once reviewed by our moderation team to make sure you are following site rules and not spamming, your account will be upgraded for more access.
Limitations new members will encounter before upgrading are as follows:
Member Upgrade: How do you get upgraded? Simple, just be an authentic member, make 5 meaningful, thought provoking posts, and follow the site rules for posting by not instigating arguments and other nonsense. Once you make your first 5 posts that are approved, you will gain access to the other forum rooms without the need to have your posts approved before going live. It doesn't take long for your post to be approved before you get going on the site. If you join when the moderators aren't verifying posts, it may take a few hours. Once verified, your posts will show up and you can discuss topics anywhere on the forum where permitted with your free membership. People will likely welcome you to the forum so visit the Welcome area to check on responses to your Introduction.
Why do new members go through this process? We work to create an environment that is suitable for everyone and to keep a spam free environment by watching initial posts to the forum, among other methods. We want to make the Symbolic Living forum a pleasant place to visit, so of course we'll do our best to assure spammers don't take over. We understand spammers will get upset with us for blocking them, however, we aren't interested in catering to spammers ego's, we are interested in providing an environment for authentic members interested in learning and sharing with one another. One of the problems with spammers is they post their marketing spiel then never show up again, plus they will even post negative comments on their own site about our policies, which is unfortunate but reflects the mentality of spammers, not us.
Get started by introducing yourself & start posting: The first step after becoming a member to the Symbolic Living forum is to decide what you'd like to do. Are you here for a course, to discuss topics in the forum, to keep a blog of your personal transformations, or all of the above? To become a member of the Symbolic Living forum you can start by looking through the forum rooms to see what interests you, then you can respond to posts and also Introduce yourself in the Introductions area.
When you Introduce yourself, let others know why you've joined, what your intentions are, what knowledge
you have to share and what you'd like to learn about. This is not where you post a 3rd person perspective outlining yourself as you would in a resume or a biographical on a website and don't link to sites. Instead focus on your interests and what you would like to share and the commonolaties you seek in other members so you can connect with members that share your interests.
Remember this site is for people to discuss and learn their interest in topics, not for self promotion of your business services.
What types of Posts are not permitted here?
Because this site is designed for informational purposes for serious and thoughtful learners and all discussions must be geared towards positive intentions and outcomes of learning, sharing and growth:
This site does not have a general discussion area. This makes it easier for site members to access information that is organized by category. Generally, when forums have General Discussion areas, people will often group together in the one forum room and information becomes lost among all the disorganized posts. It is a site rule to post in the appropriate area to the best of your ability. If you are not sure, ask a moderator where your post would fit best.
This forum is designed for you to jump into the discussions on topics that interest you right away in an organized manner.
As the forum progresses we will add new forum rooms to the site accordingly.
What is an Avatar?
An avatar is an icon image that represents you on the forum. You can change your Avatar as often as you like, however, it is best to choose something that represents you well and allow others to become familiar with your Avatar as a quick way of recognizing you and your posts.
Why are there no pre-loaded Avatar options in my User Panel?
We do not provide Avatar selections at this time directly from your User Panel, instead we allow you to find an avatar online that is unique to you.
Here is a list of sites that provide free avatars for use on forums.
www.avatarity.com
www.allavatars.com
You may browse these sites for the avatar you prefer to represent you and upload it in your user panel. Simply save the image to your computer, then click the browse button in your user panel, select the image, and upload.
What size can I have my Avatar?
Maximum size is 100 pixels by 100 pixels or 20 kb, whichever is greater. If you attempt to upload an image larger than this size you will receive an error message.
