Spiritual Practices - Do you have an altar?

I have a set of rose quartz Platonic solids that I carry with me to create sacred space wherever and whenever I might need it. These are very useful in places where it may not be appropriate to set out other sacred symbols, for example, when you are doing a reading in someone else's home. I place the tetrahedron in the south, corresponding to the fire element, the octahedron in the east for air, the icosahedron in the west for water and the cube in the north for earth. The dodecahedron for spirit, I place in the centre. This is a very convenient, but beautiful way to set up a temporary space.

This is really interesting. When you do this at someone's home do you mean you set them on the table in this placement within proximity to one another, or you set them in different parts of the house at greater distances in this placement, such as one would do in Feng Shui placements?

I place them around the area that I will be doing the reading in, often under the table or on the tabletop itself, as the idea is to be respectful of the client's space, but provide protection, clarity and sanctity for me to work in. This works really well and relieves the need to do smudging etc which may not be welcome in someone else's home. Of course, as with everything, intention to create sacred space is the key.

That's really cool. You've got a whole room squared off for it!

I was thinking recently creating lesser altars or sigils in all rooms of the house as a part of feng shui? Is this appropriate?

iI don't know much about fen shui, as long as you know a bit about it, could be good

You could have several mini altars cooresponding to the directional element in a sacred room on the boundary of a large circle, or have a main altar for meditation/ceremonial in one area and have little shrines themed in that element throughout the house, ex incense/color/gems/figures/sigals that represent fire in the south point of the southmost room
for protection crystals, herbs, a horseshoe above the door dream catchers and gargoyles. Flowering trees and plants shroud my house to confuse or sedate wanderbyers.

I also have two symbolic altars on the etheric plane i go to in meditation, one is on the forest path for meeting spirits and goddess/journeys and protection, the other in the cave enterance of knowledge for learning/genetic memory.

Greetings to All magus, Great topic. Building an altar is an attempt at Re-creating a sacred or esoteric space for the soul purpose of making contact with cosmic dark energy and dark matter(the spirit) for the benefit of truly knowing and staying in contact with the the spiritual heart(central focus of the self) of which we are all a part. The true nature of the Self deals with self-identity, consciousness and will power(ASPECTS OF THE SUB-CONSCIOUS MIND).
The sacred space(altar) should be clean and free from foreign elements that is not of the same accord or energy which include but are not limited to persons and animals. The mind should also be purified before and during the erection of an altar. Peace to All and keep up the Great Work.
