I found this book a few months ago, haven't finished all of it yet, but thought I could share the wonders of this book.
For those interested in self help books, this is one to have in your household or at least have read it. Dr. Alan C. Logan, ND wrote this book to help the reader know how to eat well. I know most of the info can probably be found on the net, but I find his way of writing really puts into perspective the North American diet.
The major part of what I have read so far establishes what kinds of food we do eat, and which ones we should eat. Our diet really affects the way we feel and interact with others. I will be posting a more detailed post in the Psychology thread, sharing my thoughts more personally on the aspect of depression.
Basically, Omega 3 and any other types of fatty acids are extremely important for your brain. It feeds on these nutrients, but because our brains cannot produce these naturally, it is imperative that we consume these in our diet.
The North American diet consists mostly of fast food, which when you look at it, is the main reason as to all the different diseases related to the brain and heart today.
Without telling all the details of the book, I really suggest you read this book, depending on the type of diet you currently have, it could help you understand and widen your nutritional diet.

"The BRAIN Diet"?
Like, a Self-help book, for, like Zombies?
You guys are wierd. Esoteric Forum is Zombies.
...
Anyway, I went to an anorexia clinic once. I was like trying to tell them about fasting and altered states that like happen when you're emaciated, but they were like, "If your body is emaciated, your brain is emaciated!". So I am sure that those psychologists regarded each and every one of their patients with the utmost contempt. How I hate people into psych who are proscriptive, how I detest them.
So this experience allowed me to expect this thread to be about a diet that serves your brain, nutrition that specifically serves the functions of the brain, its growth and perservation. Is that not the case? Such a book should be written, no matter how much bunk it would be from any given perspective.

Omega 3's are important. They are brain food, thus fish oil is important for brain function. Actually, a friend of mine who has a family member with a condition has said that fish oil is good for the neuron firing of the brain, as in some conditions the synapses don't connect properly, and omega 3's is very helpful in creating balance.
Funny, I want to be a zombie for Halloween :P

It's alergy season and I'm kinda feeling like a zombie...

Yeah I never ate any fish at all for the first 16 or so years of my life. I probably ingested less than one fish before t he age of 16. I wonder if there were any serious repercussions.

I hear shrimp are farmed too, like salmon. I wonder if they too have unhealthy levels of who "know's what" in them.
Speaking of fish I saw an article yesterday that they are very deformed near oil sands.

I'm really not to keen on farmed fish, because the waters that they are swimming in is not as natural or fresh compared to the natural habitat. I was reading an article awhile ago that state Pacific salmon is much healthier than Atlantic salmon, and it had less mercury.
