I was very glad to see that the talks on Friday between Obama and Harper resulted in a plan to reduce mercury emissions from numerous sources[ power plants, thermometers, compact flourescemt bulbs and household products]. Yay! Keep it up! What I didn't realize was that mercury is used in the production of plastics [although I avoid them anyway] and paper making..wow, anther good reason to keep things "paper-free". I had no idea and I bet most people don't either.

Awesome, I didn't know about this. That's great they are doing this. Now if only they'd start working on reducing the use of flouride. It's funny whenever the big industries find some very toxic waste they have to dispose of they always find a way to sell it back to the public in diluted amounts :[, which is terrible.

Hmm. We had an expose here regarding amalgam. Apparently, the average filling gives off enough mercury vapour to keep your immune system permenantly suppressed

I wonder what bright spark first had that great idea... "Oh, I know - lets mix this known hazardous substance with this other stuff, and we can stick it into people's mouths... it'll be a laugh, and we can tell them that it benefits their health..."

Yes, it does make one wonder. doesn't it?

As far as fluoride goes, you can reduce your exposure by drinking filtered water and by eliminating fluoridated toothpaste. You can purchase a natural product at the health food store or you can use a couple of drops of natural soap like Dr. Bronner's flavoured with peppermint essential oil. Not only does it not contain fluoride, but it also doesn't contain silica [let's brush our teeth with sand!] that is found in regular toothpaste. One of the things silica does is cause food to stick to our teeth! Again, a great role for a toothpaste. as Haruth points out, one can see how the dental people are laughing up their sleeves.

To get back to mercury again, did you know that mercury is a used for gold panning and then , of course, introduced into the water source? Appalling! All so we can glisten...maybe gold teeth are better than amalgam teeth? But we'll have to pass on them anyway if we care about the planet. Another good reason to boycott gold jewellery!
