Another thing to note in Catholic symbolism is that the bread always comes first and then the wine. It is a reenactment of the Wedding at Cana where the water is turned to wine. Jesus was empowered(Buddhist term for opening the crown chakra. Christian term is "The Wedding.") or took his first steps on the spiritual path here.

Both bread(mana from heaven & Jewish origin) and water(ancient agrarian symbol) are representations of the Power of Grace.

Jesus then officiates this ceremony at The Last Supper using the Jewish representation. Communion is a ritual that consists of bringing in both Grace & Passion/Kundalini into the body using physical representations.

Gnostics work in the other direction. Kundalini first, then Grace which brings Peace.

You have to consider that the soul was thought to be feminine. It was widely known by spiritual masters that kundalini shatters the cup or grail making her angry and crazy. This is why Catholics exterminated the Gnostics. They considered Gnostic practices as killing the soul and thus heretical.

While Gnostics believed they were killing the flesh & error thought processes which frees the soul from confinement.

Both are right . . . in the right circumstances.

Catholic/Buddhist practices benefit women/creative or the anima-based personality.
Gnostic/Jewish practices benefit men/intellectual or the animus-based personality.

Neither practice should be universally instituted. Personality testing should be done to establish which practices, Catholic/Buddhist or Gnostic/Jewish, will bring enlightenment.

The road runs both ways.

Spiritual teachers need to be educated in both sides of the equation if they want to teach both men and women. Otherwise they MUST have integrity and the tools to determine who they will injure, and thus must turn away, with the practices they use.

This is why spiritual knowledge was kept secret and passed by masters only to their most trusted students. You can possess a person or kill their soul with spiritual practices. The adepts did not want these nuclear style weapons in the hands of children or terrorists. Yet, people today play with the 2 powers as if they are toys. They unwittingly create people who are unbalanced, who then create chaos and war in the world.

On the subject of sex, many beleive that life is suffering such as the buddhists, so they dont celebrate life/sex energies.
As sex limits the creator energies into human incarnation, bringing more suffering/reincarnation.
Just like how some judeochrisitans beleive the world is evil therefore also is the earth, material and physical bodies or pleasure.

The Virgin Path or Left Handed path (Catholic, Buddhist, Zen, etc) group consider sex suffering, because the rise of kundalini kills the new being that is developing within the spirit.

Christians call this, "The slaughter of the innocents."

Trust me, it is true suffering when you have lost your inner identity. Made me suicidal. Thank goodness I survived through that dark night of the soul. Many do not. It has been almost 10 years and I still do not know who I am.

if religions are so opposed to sex than why is everything in our biology and psychology driving us to want and pursue it above all else? is just a way of controlling the masses in my opinion. My belief is that through enlightenment what we once enjoyed as bliss through sexual union then becomes bliss through Divine union. I don't believe Divine Union precludes sex, but rather through the completeness of such a divine ecstatic experience the previous level of physicality seems redundant. This is however, I believe, not a moralistic forbidding of the sexual experience, but rather a natural preference that the enlightened being makes.
