I had one of 'those' days yesterday. There had been 5, maybe 6 storms throughout the day, rolling in from the west and south and moving ever so slowly east. Such a grey day it should have been cold but not so.
Most of the day I stayed indoors because of the rain but twice I just couldn’t stop myself and ran into the courtyard laughing, skipping(!!) and dancing(!). It was as if I had suddenly burst with happiness or energy and couldn’t contain myself. Each time I ended my frolic under my lady yew tree whereupon I swear she kissed me and then – also laughed. I jest you not!
I felt 5 years old.
Have you ever heard thunder sing like a blackbird? I have. Yesterday. It sang on 3 separate occasions for over 45 minutes each time.
And while it sang it danced - the most beautiful love-song-dance I’ve ever heard the heavens ring. Something has happened. Something wonderful has happened.
And when it was over I walked back to the house, still smiling and thinking nothing yet feeling happy. I was aware of little raindrops falling from trees and shrubs, how instantly lush everything seemed to be and just before I reached the house a red rose, lying off to my left, beckoned.
So I walked over to it and looked, stared, touched, walked around it, stared some more and then the crowning glory of the day…I was invited to inhale its beauty, and gratefully obliged.
I've been smelling it ever since.
