This is really interesting... I thought witches used the new moon to work towards achieving goals through growth during this cycle, new beginnings??? I've not heard that it is unwise to cast a spell on a new moon. I'd be very interested to find out too.

New moons, there probably is less moon energy to tap into. Moon energy is powerful for different magical acts. Depending on what lineage or doctrine using, some believe different astrological signs have different traits and beings to summon, and different times of the year are better for doing certain magical tasks or doing certain summonings. There are other explanations of time dependency of magical acts, but I'm not understanding them well enough to even communicate in the terrible way I described the previous.

For moon energy cultivating it's best to tap into it the 5 days the moon is brightest, into the subtle body. Maybe if someone cultivates it they can release it whenever they want to. Just a thought. Also when cultivating moon energy it should not be cloudy, or any oddities, or it could lead to deviations and inconsistencies.

I'm just a little skeptical with spells and the theme. I know spells and intention weaving works, because I've had experience with it from both ends, but the manner in which they work is far from mystical, it is scientific and there is too much hand waving involved in the mainstream magic. Order of life and God is concrete, it's not mysterious it's solid mechanics if one is willing to sacrifice the illusion and artificial beauty of life and discover it, themes are taken lightly as they are relatively temporal not of constant value.

A period of preparation where ones thoughts are preparing for the ritual of magic so when the moon is ready so are the thoughts of the magician who performs the magical rite.
Its also after the ritual has finished when the magic starts to begin especially if magical rituals are used on someone or something. The new moon will deliver the kind of energy required to get the job done weather it be for good or ill. Magic works with the magicians persistent focus and desired goal..

The new moon is when the sun is in conjunction with the moon. The dark moon is when iti s advised not to work in most circumstances for three days:

From "a portion" of one of my references (above), one can see the rule clearly. However it does not really give the full flavor...I have another source that mentions it is dangerous to cast spells on a Dark Moon.
Though I have been asked to be careful what I share regarding the overall subject, I feel it necessary to share that which is to be considered dangerous.

This bit of information is good for those who are not studying under an experienced witch, are experimenting, trying to learn from books, and so on and so forth.

Brifae (or any other witches), do you say that "dangerous" is a bit overboard or do you agree with that?
