Who is this forum for and what is it all about?

If you love art, love to be inspired, and love spiritual, philosophical, mythological discussions, you are at the right place.

This forum is centered around enjoying learning and sharing in esoteric discussions with the intention of creating a place that feels comfortable and secure in their expressions of positive learning. Because everyone is on their own journey and on a unique path towards learning and understanding, we believe it is important that all who are interested in the field of esoteric spirituality should have the opportunity to learn and grow in a respectful environment. Our goal is to provide such a venue for people to feel connected with others of similar interest and with those who can offer insights into new paths of learning.

This forum is for people who have an interest in ancient and modern knowledge and wisdom. Whether it be factual or fantasy, all is welcome from history and philosophy to comic book heroes and heroins we hope you enjoy lively, creative discussions that are inspiring.

People who have an interest in discussing universe ranging from the expanses of spirituality, metaphysics, magical thought, from quantum physics to the cosmos. People interested in discussing topics such as the qabalah, tree of life, ancient mystery schools, sacred geometry, paganism, buddhism, mystical christianity, wicca, gods & goddesses, angels, spirits, psychic energy, the environment, nature and botanicals, holistic healing and energy work, and so on. There's a lot to talk about and hopefully you learn a great deal here as the site grows. Being an early member of the forum can be interesting, as you watch it grow and change as it evolves, with input and energy from others changing the dynamic. We hope you enjoy your time here, we want to make it an inspiring place that helps people discover more of themselves through connecting with other people with similar interests and unique paths in life.





Getting Started
We would first like to give you some useful information to help you get started.


When you sign up to be a member of Symbolic Living - Esoteric Forum, you will gain access of reading the information available and to join the discussions with others for gaining and sharing insight and wisdom on your spiritual path. Members have access to view more areas than non-members.


It's easy to sign up:
simply register, choose a user name (real or unique handle), select your preferences and you'll be our latest member. For more details review the information below.

1. How to get started. Registering:

Once you fill in the registration form information, you will be provided with an email to validate your membership. Simply check your email and click on the link back to the forum to confirm your membership.

1.1. Registering for a Class.

If you have registered for a Class, you will have access to your class within 12 hours of registering. To access the class you must create a username at the Symbolic Living Forum. Administration will check your account registration, verify your account and provide you with details via email. Student accounts are not subject to moderation as described in step 2 below.


2. Moderation and your First posts:

New members are moderated to ensure spammers are blocked. We want to make the site an enjoyable place full of useful information, so your first few posts are screened to make sure they are appropriate, rather than having the site filled with inappropriate advertisements. This makes it fair and pleasant for everyone. We read your first few posts quickly during day-evening hours to ensure they go live for you, so you don't have to wait long. Once you establish yourself as a member aligned with the intentions of the forum, you'll be able to post as frequently and as often as you wish.

Be sure to read the Forum FAQ's on what types of posts are allowed and what are not. Negative messages directed towards others and anything of the sort are not permitted of course.


3. Forum Access:

Most sections of the Forum are available for discussion by general members at this time. Some sections of the forum are restricted to members with subscription services.



4. Create your User Profile:

Visit your User Control Panel (User CP) to create your User Profile. This area allows others quick access to information about you that you'd like to share, such as your interests, a biography, and more. Be sure to not give overly personal information such as your address, phone number, etc., information on your esoteric interests would be a great choice for a quick overview. You can also add a User Profile Picture to your User Profile if you'd like.


5. Avatars:

An avatar is a great way to represent yourself on Symbolic Living's Esoteric Forum. You can add an avatar to appear under your username by visiting your User Control Panel in the left hand side of the main menu at the top of the page. All must be viewable by general audiences - no explicit images are permitted. Immediate banning of users who post anything of the sort.

These sites have avatars for you to get started. Simply download the one you like to your computer and upload it in your User CP in the Avatars section.

6. Posting Images in your Posts

Websites like Photobucket offer you the ability to put images in the forum by using a link. The easiest way is to click the button and enter the url (without the [img img] tags).

Of course no explicit images are allowed.

If you attached an image in your post but you want it to appear as the original size in your post instead of just as a clickable attachment in the bottom of your post, simply view your attachment once it's uploaded and submitted, copy the url it is saved at, then edit your post and enter the url as you would any image.



7. Posting YouTube and other videos in your Posts:

Videos from many sites can be automatically embedded in your posts by typing in the URL or Embed code. (This is temporarily disabled, please see below).

To embed video's into your posts, use the Attachment 1797 button and paste the full url of the video into the pop-up box.

Videos button requires you to paste the video url using the button.



8. Copyright Protected Material ** Important:

No information may be posted on the forum that infringes on Copyright / Plagiarism laws. If you would like to post a clipping of an article or other written work you may copy and paste a small portion of the information with quotations indicating the clipping. The source of the work must also be noted. An option that is suitable is to post a small portion of the article and a link to the source.

This rule applies to images (photographs, artwork), articles, books, and any other copyright materials and works, also see the FAQSection.

It is against site rules for a member to take credit for information that is not of their own writing.

When you create a post the best option is to post from your own knowledge, research, interpretation and experience.
Symbolic Living Forum does it's best to make sure all information is not plagiarized. However, if you find that a post has been plagiarized please bring it to the attention of site administrators to be addressed. We will do our best to keep the forum a place of integrity and honesty.

Please review rules 9 and 10 below as applied to posting, and posting links and referrals.


9. Reporting inappropriate posts or members:

We want you to have a great learning experience at the Symbolic Living Forum. We encourage members to report inappropriate posts as we don't accept posts that infringe on Copyright or Plagiarism laws (see #7 above.) or Spam or members who harass others. To report anything that is inappropriate simply click on the report post icon that is available on the upper right hand side of each post. Use your reasonable discretion when reporting posts please. We'll look into the complaint promptly.

You may also PM the Site Administrator about a specific post.


10. Links and referrals:

You may link to outside source websites that provide information related to the topic of your post.
  • Links or referrals to other forums are not permitted.(also see plagiarism rules - no copy/pasting from other forums is permitted)
  • Links and referrals to esoteric groups are not permitted.
  • Links and referrals to Advertising sites or product sales sites are not permitted.
  • Of course, links or referrals to explicit, violent, promoting dark arts, or illegal sites are not permitted.
This site is designed to be an inclusive group for gaining knowledge. We encourage discussions to be within the realms of the site.

11. Karma Points

  
Every members post has a Karma Points Icon at the end of their post in the left column under their avatar. Everyone is entitled to being granted karma points by other members. When you share your wisdom, your karma points will increase. If you read a post and like what the person has to say, you may click on the karma points icon to leave that person points. You can give karma points in this way, and may also post a message to tell the person why you have given them karma points.

You can view your most recent karma points by visiting your User CP.

You also gain karma points by the number of posts you make, and by the number of days you have been a member.

Creating numerous short posts, or copy/pasting posts from outside sources with the intention of gaining karma points is not encouraged and considered misuse of the system.

Posting - Important Suggestion:

There is nothing more frustrating than typing a post and then losing it. I think we've all experienced this before when sending out an important email to find when hitting the "send" button that the message didn't go through and all the text has disappeared.

If you have posted a message that you've spent a long time writing, you never know... better safe than sorry... highlight, right click, and copy your message before hitting the Submit button. You'll be glad you did in the event the message somehow doesn't go through.

Firefox browser is useful when entering text on the web as it usually saves a cached page of your browsed pages. Hitting the back button on your browser will show the information you posted.
Also - To better ensure you aren't logged out at any time, simply click on the "remember me" box when logged in.

If for some reason the you're logged out upon clicking submit, simply enter your login in the field and your post will still go through.
