Fascinating. I am quite an expert on Heraldry, but I would never have thought that so many symbols have a Pagan, Hermetic or early Christian background. I do know that Copper sulfate was sometimes represented as a circumscribed eagle, but this is just stunning to know actually how much came from Esoteric and early Christian backgrounds.
Magick is the art of knowing how to do things without knowing how to do them.

Nice link! I was in a local library and just oddly walked straight up to this shelve the first book I looked upon said heraldry something or other, and I had a large interest in the symbolism hidden behind just recently before that. So I started flipping through the pages, and came across some cool symbols, I have a feel the esoteric content of a heraldic family symbol is representative of that family's esoteric learning and heritage, so common people would not be able to recognize when someone of higher esoteric learning was in their presence. I also noticed some of the families that came to America had a sphinx in their coat of arms. or whatever it would be called.

I saved some in my phone camera, I see one has a guy with a club in his right and a snake in his left hand with a torq surrounding his waist. And I am really interested in the symbolism of the quadrants. That link was helpful, but still I'm curious. The quadrants symbolize heritage and it's hard to explain. I think they were doing breeding alchemy at that time. I also see a badge with a sun at the top and 3 compasses and a square in the middle. I see another one with a heart at the top with wings. I wish I could upload it to the computer. Anyway I'll try to find some more information later. Very interesting though. I'll probably show some US Armed forces symbolism too.
