Choku Rei is a Reiki symbol of strength, action, power, direction, purpose and focus. The energy of the universe is focusing on this point. This point is the centre and the balance of ones live.
"Basically power on here" to activate the practictioners hand chakras.
This revelation may have been read in a book prior, but was also revealed to me in meditation by the universe.

In reiki, I use this symbol mainly. It seems more universal. The others are very Japanese Kanji. I haven't done reiki in ages.

If you are intersted in rediscovering reiki, I have symbols in my BOS that I could share in another thread.
There are some trad symbols that are kanji, but it is easy to break it down into
swishes or parts such as hebrew letters and their yud/yod. Each part is numbered for the beginning practioner.
I have many symbols that are modern or channelled. Of course many othe symbols can be incorporated such as planetary sigils.
Many of the reiki symbols have deeper symbols and symbolical meanings or are based on such symbols.
I have had a mini attunement, but I beleive self attunement (am doing) or by an archetype is possible.
Sounds cool. I'd love too hear more. I haven't actually considered reiki much beyond the eastern tradition, but bringing in components of sigils, etc., seems fascinating. I actually had an interest in the Egyptian magic similar to reiki I believe, I think it's called Sekhem. I find Egyptian spirituality fascinating, so I think having that association would bring me more into it. I'd love to learn more about such magical thinking and use of symbols. I think Sekhem has to do with the sphinx or with a Lion / fire type of magical energy.
I'm not sure about the process of self attunement. I remember being a member of a yahoo group years ago that discussed celtic reiki, but still, I couldn't get that into it. I have been attuned to reiki levels 1 and 2 by a reiki master, and never had the desire to move onto the next level. I think it's because I didn't have the confidence in the reiki master. I had mixed feelings about the experience and how into it the reiki master really was. I almost felt like it was more for the money.
I'm glad you are talking about this. What I loved about reiki when I practiced it more, is that it seemed to open up that doorway to magical visualization, merging the physical world of perceived reality with the magical, mystical, spiritual side. Reiki, I've always found to have a very positive association to the spirit realm. It seems very light. Very third eye and crown chakra energy there.

What you say about higher chakras is interesting, as I have found that true.
Sekmet is one I work with as well, as a fire/leo deity like Bride. She is a healer, but is also ferocious.
I believe self attunement is possible, if the energy is channelled or recieved from the same source.
Back to the one source that as you said is spirit, so I'm sure there are many ways to get the required attunement/source.
I definately respect tradition, but alot of traditions in energy share commonalities as you have pointed out.
How is one initiated in Sekhem? I wonder if it is just like the solitary practitioner in witchcraft that some are naturals.
I have met one such natural who preformed reiki on my headache.
