Mine is a little different and it is not something I have shared until now...

I feel that one should treat their crystals as though they are "living stones", an extension of the Her of God. That they should be returned to the creation for an annual visit so to speak. Spring is the norm, but it can be anytime.

I go through a series of purification rites with the "earth-based" being the last. The Cherokee Indian method of purification is what I prefer due to my ancestral connection to this tribe and how natural it feels. I believe in using a similar method for my crystals and feel the best time is just after I do myself.

It involves running/moving water (fresh natural), 7 complete submersions done consecutively (completely out of the water and then back in and fully submersed) still wrapped in its cloth, focusing on removing "the unwanted"...just after coming up from the seventh...removing the cloth it had been wrapped in for the last year and letting it float down stream carrying with it the last of "the unwanted"...catching it with a stick and burning it in a dedicated fire pit in a particular manner along with my cloth I used in my cleansing (usually a T-shirt I had worn for the last year).

Energy from our Creator through the fresh water, fertile soil, vegetation, fresh air, sun, moon, stars...all of creation purifies, heals, and replenishes.

I remember last year when I was picking up a few crystals at one of those spiritual gift shops, I got into a conversation with the woman who owned the store. We had a conversation about methods to cleans and re-charge crystals, and one good way she mentioned is to use warm water with rosemary herbs. She told me that the crystals like rosemary and it gives them a positive feeling. She didn't recommend the salt because it give the crystal a feeling of frustration and negativity, but I assume this may apply for some crystals, I can imagine salt may very well complement other kinds of stones and crystals. But try the rosemary, I did, and I noticed a difference, my crystals did have a positive feeling after they were recharged in the sun. Positive crystals a great for meditation.

Did she mention why crystal like rosemary in particular, as opposed to other herbs? I'm just curious why that particular herb was recommended.

No she never mentioned why, and I never asked her. I just took her advice and tryed it out my slef. I noticed how it did make the stones and crystals feel more positive. Try it out the next time you do a crystal cleansing, and let me know how it has worked for you.

What is the Her of God?

I have a special bowl filled with large sea salt granuals, I put anything I want to cleanse in this bowl. When I want to cleanse my crystals I do it on one of the 3 nights of the full moon. (banishing) I will remove the crystal from the salt bowl rinse it water. (rose water if I have it, which these days I rarely do) and then I do a statement of intent. IE: what I want from that particular crystal, removal of all negative energy, only allowing positive loving engery to come in, etc.... And then by the power of the full moon I discharge all negative energy leaving it out on the windowsile all night, and then allowing the sunlight to charge it with positive energy during the day. I do something similar with my tarot cards as well. Really to empower them properly, it would be a two step process, discharge the negative on the full moon, then put them away safely until the new moon. On the eve of the new moon charge them with the statement of intent, this time with what you want it to do for you. It would be good to have at least two of the same crystals, stones so you can alternate, this way you also give them a break. On the new moon you would bathe them in the type of herbal water that will aid in the desired effect.
