I found this video clip and found it quite comical and wanted to share it.

With the new wave of wireless technology that is coming out into the market wireless providers are investing billions of dollars in wireless info structure just to keep up with the demands, as well as the evolving technology. I remember in the late 70's early eighty's when a cell phones became a product people can buy. This luxury would only be purchased by a select few who were able to afford such a expensive convenience. Back then to acquire a cell phone you would have to fork out a large amount of money for the device, as well pay a large monthly bill to cover the costs of it's usage. How things have changed, because back then if you wanted to purchase a wireless hand set you were limited to who your provider was, and the kind of handset that was available in the market. Today anyone can walk into a wireless dealer and acquire a cell phone no matter what your financial status is. The competition in this industry has incredibly grown not just with the products that are coming into the market, but with in the industry that provides the service. All around the world their are different service provides who provide the hardware, as well as a service plan to go with the particular device of your choice. Someone would chooses a provider based on the type of device that was offered into the market, for example when the Iphone came out into the market you were limited to who your service provider was, because this product was designed for a GSM/3G wireless network which is now becoming the industry standard, and slowly evolving into a GSM/4G network. Many service providers lost allot of clients, because of the demand for this product. Apple designed and marketed this product so well that everyone who had a wireless device for leisure would quickly change service providers just to own this product. Even if they were on a service term with a different service provider they would pay what ever it cost to get out of their existing contract just so they can sign up with a service provider who had this product. The Apple Iphone has now become the most popular wireless device in the market to date, and millions of people who use wireless technology for communications has been sold. Service providers that are operating under the older TDMA/CDMA wireless networks have experienced major losses in profit, and are now being forced to invest billions of dollars for new wireless network info structure just to keep up with the demands of this quickly evolving industry. Apples product has made a major impact in the wireless industry, and has forced other manufacturers such as Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Samsung etc, to manufacture a product like Apples Iphone, but with an operating system such as the Android that can provide the end user with similar experiences like Apple's. The smart phone is the term being used for the new wireless products that are now in the market. These devices are allowing people to communicate in many ways, you can have a simple voice conversation, or send a quick text message to a family or friend, with a device like this I can capture a picture or video and send it to someone else who is half way across the world. I can interact with people in this forum and others like it anywhere with out being in front of my home personal computer. I can also do my banking and make simple purchases through on line websites, and even play music and watch High definition videos. Who would ever imagine such a convenient piece of technology would allow people to interact and take care of business from anywhere around the world.

What we are witnessing here in this industry is really no different than what happened in the PC industry many years ago, I remember in the early Eighty's when Mac came out with the Apple II E computer, and in the late eighty's early 90's the Mackintosh computer were in schools every where that can afford this new technical break through. These technical break throughs were primarily used for business and educational purposes, and to purchase a system like this for your home you would have to pay 1000's of dollars just to have one for it's simple convenience, but a whole new learning curve on how to operate and maintain these computes was required as well. Later the (PC personal computer) came out with the Microsoft Dos command operating system, that later evolved into the windows operating system, that operated under the Dos tree structure with a graphic user interface that allowed end users to operate with out inputting different command prompts to execute programs. Windows like the Mackintosh was a mouse clicking easy to use office and home convenience that later allowed intranet network capabilities, that allowed uses to communicate and transfer files with in the organization. Later the Internet which has been around since the late 50's early 60's, used by government and military personnel to communicate and transfer information. The Internet has become a easy to use office and home experience that allows users to access all kinds of information, and is still evolving. I can access all kinds of information from my home, I can communicate with people from all around the world, I can make reservations to a restaurant with out making a phone call, and even order pizza. The Internet has become the main source of information for people all around the world to access and communicate, but this easy to use convince has also evolved with major threats of security of personal information. Hackers have been around since telecommunications existed, and I remember even Steve Jobs the CEO of Apple was one of them. He and a few of his friends and colleagues would design a device that allowed them to hack telephone systems so they can make conversations with people from all around the world. This group of people later invested their time and energy to meet in secrecy and build the first home personal computer, from that point our world has changed as we have become so dependent on these new technical break throughs.

It's the marketing that company's put out that have people believe they need the products that are available, and people by the mass sometimes go through hell just to be the first to have the new latest and greatest technology that has become available to the public. Every time a new video game system comes out, or an Iphone is released people are lined up over night just to be one of the first to acquire these new products. One would wonder what would we be looking forward to in the future, we have discovered our world and are now looking for ways to discover other worlds. With new technical breakthroughs we will eventually get their and when we do we will still be looking for ways to evolve, is it me, or do we seem like restless a species that are never satisfied with simplicity.

Here are a few images of personal computes and wireless devices that have evolved in the last 30 years or so.

That really was funny and so true. I've not got an iPhone... I simply don't want one. There is nothing about it that entices me. I don't need it... OKAY I am typing and whatever I type is going through my head like those robotic voices now!!!

I'm often a little rebellious against the mainstream. I often see it as foolishness. I think it's always better to wait. Usually products that first come out need more work. They release them too early before they've gotten all the kinks out.

is it me, or do we seem like restless a species that are never satisfied with simplicity.
    You're not the only one.

People never feel fulfilled, and materialism never fills the void. I think we are naturally programmed to want more, to look to the future, and to achieve some sort of status. Products give the temporary illusion of this.

I saw a man drive by in a Porsche today. I was curious about his reasoning for getting the car, what his career was, if he was a slime ball business man or a legitimate business man,if the car was his, or if he was on a joyride. So many considerations of one persons lifestyle according to his product.

It's easy to get trapped in materialism, that's why so many people are. People are consumers by nature. Consumerism is required for survival, but humans take it to the next level based on their ideas.

Personally I think it's an amazing piece of technology because of what it can do, it's a testament that science fiction is becoming a reality.

I like the Android Linux open source concept that is pretty much does the same thing, but with less restrictions.

What really sells a product is the marketing that goes into it. Marketing makes people believe this is the greatest thing, and you must have it. We as people can seem so naive in believing we have to have a particulate advertised product. What I see in mass marketing is that the more people believe they want a product, the more people will want to have it, and will go to great lengths to acquire it, and to be the first one to have it becomes the accomplishment in it self. Their for getting the product is not enough, being one of the first to have it gives bragging rights. I think people are naturally competitive, and the more materialistic someone is they will want the latest and greatest that their money can buy. I'm sure that fellow you saw today driving the porch sometimes wonder what it will be like if he had a Ferrari, it seems like after we acquire the latest and greatest we are thinking about the next big thing to come into the market.

If you ever get the chance look up American Marketing A Historical Documentary About Edward Bernays and Sigmund Freud. This documentary is really good and does shed allot of truth in mass marketing and how people can act like mindless robots when it comes to popularity and demand.
