I know there must be a post about this somewhere but somehow I couldn't find so I had to make my own thread sorry
A while ago I read Dan Brown's latest novel titled "The Lost Symbol"
I usually never bring this up with anyone because lots of people are saying that his novels are Fiction so it's not the time or the place for an argument about whether it's true or not, I just wanna say something that really caught my mind in the novel.
A conversation was going About 2012 then one of the characters say: "when they talk about 2012 and say an apocalypse is coming they don't understand what it means, Apocalypse in Greek means 'to reveal' or 'to unveil' something, it doesn't mean an armageddon it's different in Greek!"
What I wanna say is, it's really a nice point he has there! What do you guys think?
I hope this is not to predictable or too old or anything but I wanted to share with you guys so I can what you think about it

That's a great point. Like a New-Age, which many do feel it is. Rather than a cataclysm of events happening, it would be a dawning of awakening and realization. However, with all the bad news we hear day in and day out (which I think the media is capitalizing on the fear projecting about 2012, however, none the less, there is a lot of unfortunate things happening at the hands of humans), many feel it could be an end to the physical way of life. Some think the only way for a real cleansing of the mind to happen is if something really terrible happens that forces us to give up "our" self induced stupidity and selfishness by finally realizing how destructive we have been.

I find it really interesting you should bring up Greek, as I've recently heard the new testament was written in Greek, not Hebrew, originally. Considering Revelations is all about an Armageddon, in symbolic language that many in the west adhere to as truth and also potentially correlate to 2012, it's not surprising there is so much fear surrounding the idea. I wonder if some of the words have been mistranslated from the Greek meaning, to have more of a fearful slant, which the west seems to resonate with so commonly.

I think you might like the lost symbol, you won't find a lot of new things but of course you can take it as a thriller and I think Dan Brown always succeeded in thrillers.

I'm heading over there to post alot of videos, one i been holding, 25 parts goes into our past and atlantis and the two cults of the sun and moon. please watch it all. Even if you dont agree with all of it extremely good info on symbolism...even jediism..
The other i just stumbled across very synchronitic.

Yes they are. But don't be letting people knock Dan Brown! What he has woven into, let's face it, a pulp volume, are enough snippets of truth to "get it out there".

The case surrounding the Da Vinci code made me laugh... Baigent and Lee had every right to be more than a little annoyed at Mr Brown. But guess what, not even 1% of the people who read Brown's version had even heard of Baigent and Lee... Overnight, the world knew the slimmest details of their theory.

Brown has sprinkled the collective conscious with concepts, theories and rites which were destined, without his success, to remain largely hidden away...

Sounds like a little clue as to what Brown is achieving very successfully as we approach that date...

What is the "big reveal" of 2012 that so many are afraid of / anticipate? No idea, but if you find out, please let us know Don't know how much of this waiting I can stand.

I do agree that they are fiction, but all am saying is it's a nice point he's throwing out there that's all
and believe me I would've told u if I know anything about "the big reveal" but I don't!

Maybe the big reveal will be like the big unveiling... where our ego's are stripped away, layer by layer and we realize how stupid we've been in so many ways, and that's a good thing to realize... well as long as we choose differently after we come to the realization. It seems the problem is, we do learn a few things about our stupidity here and there, yet we continue repeating our errors with consequences.

I actually thought about the same thing a while ago, but I think some people don't need their stupidity to be proven!
And I still come to the same question, what are they (who ever behind all this) trying to accomplish? What are the goals behind all this? That's what need to be revealed!
