This is pretty disgusting in my opinion. I've heard of this before, but have pushed it out of my mind, it's just too freaky. Now it's back in the news. Tampering with human brain cells mixing with animal brain cells, and mixing sperm and egg cells, this is just going too far.

A new report into experiments which transplant human cells into animals for medical purposes said scientists may not be far from giving apes the ability to think and talk like humans.
Concerns about the creation of talking apes should be taken seriously along with "what one might call the 'Frankenstein fear' that the medical research which creates 'humanised' animals is going to generate monsters", it was claimed.

A regulatory body is needed to closely monitor any experiments that risk creating animals with human-like consciousness, spawning hybrid human-animal embryos, or giving animals any appearance or behavioural traits that too closely resemble humans, the report said.
Scientists would, for example, be prevented from replacing a large number of an ape's brain with human cells – as has already been done in simpler animals like mice – until much more is known about the potential results.

Under the new guidelines the power to regulate tests on animals containing human material would be transferred to a body with wider responsibility for animal testing within the Home Office.

LONDON (Reuters) - Scientific experiments that insert human genes or cells into animals need new rules to ensure they are ethically acceptable and do not lead to the creation of "monsters," a group of leading British researchers said on Friday.

While humanizing animals in the name of medical research offers valuable insights into the way human bodies work and diseases develop, clear regulations are needed to make sure humanization of animals is carefully controlled.

Extreme scenarios, such as putting brain cells into primates to create talking apes, may remain science fiction, but researchers around the world are constantly pushing boundaries.
Chinese scientists have already introduced human stem cells into goat fetuses and U.S. researchers have studied the idea of creating a mouse with human brain cells -- though they have not actually done so.

Such controversial research needs special oversight, according to a report from Britain's Academy of Medical Sciences on the use of animals containing human material.

Using animals with limited humanized traits is not new. Genetically engineered mice containing human DNA are already a mainstay of research into new drugs for diseases like cancer.
But Martin Bobrow, a professor of medical genetics at the University of Cambridge, who led the Academy's working group, said there were three areas of particular concern.

"Where people begin to worry is when you get to the brain, to the germ (reproductive) cells, and to the sort of central features that help us recognize what is a person, like skin texture, facial shape and speech," he told reporters.

His report recommends that government should put in place a national expert body, working within the existing system for regulating animal research, to oversee such sensitive areas.
British ministers said they welcomed the report and would consider its recommendations carefully.
Bobrow said other countries would need to follow suit with their own rules, as their scientists and regulators also recognized the need to address potential public concerns.

The increasingly sophisticated blending of different species to create chimaeras is pushing biology into a new ethical dimension. Last year, scientists used new stem-cell technologies to create a mouse with a functioning pancreas composed entirely of rat cells. So might it soon be possible to create a monkey with a brain composed entirely of human neurons? And would it think like a human?

Such an animal might be useful to researchers studying human cognition or human-specific pathogens. But it would be ethically unacceptable and should be banned, argues a government-commissioned report from the UK Academy of Medical Sciences, a body that promotes medical research.

The document, Animals Containing Human Material , says that genetic and stem-cell technologies are now so advanced that the creation of such animals is already on the horizon. But no country has yet devised a broad regulatory framework for the research. The report, released on 22 July, calls for the United Kingdom to take the lead in putting in place specific safeguards.

I find this to be super disgusting. I think some people at first think of it as what we're used to seeing in movies or reading in books, like werewolves, or like on Seinfeld when the pigman was mentioned. However, it's on a "smaller" level (at least what we're being told about) that's equally as disturbing. To consider human brain cells blended with animals is very sickening in my opinion. It's going too far. I'm all for exploration of science, but when it gets to animal testing, cruelty and disgustingly strange it makes me feel sick.

I'm such a little buddha when it comes to life. I even save the annoying bugs from my pool water when I see them. I figure if I were drowning, no matter what my dna shaped my body into, I'd be glad to have the struggle of drowning end with a little help.

I don't like suffering, and what scientists do often is just grotesque. Living things deserve dignity and respect. It's the life force in a different form, but still a conscious, living being experiencing life. I don't understand why people can't understand such a simple concept.

Ok so the weird thing about this is I witnessed this in a dream in which I was participating in the harvesting in a lab then I rebelled.... before I heard about what this was in waking conciousness. I just got done watching the movie VILE, I usually hate these type of horroresque movies but my fiance is a fan, he said I had to watch it cause of the adrenalchrome thing.
Basically people became monster like one philosophical review states sadism to survive, nihilism, Gandhi quotation as an epigraph: “The root of violence is science without humanity.”

So having been trapped and have to torture each other to get this brain chemical juice out into vials attached to their head to enact the fear stimulated state, the group of conflicted victims must inflict enough pain and suffering on each other to fill an on-screen progress bar to 100%, like some sort of demented video game loading screen. , which drug dealers would traffick likely to the "sick fuck" wealthy elites. But after they do this spoiler alert, they die anyways except for one person, and of course one or more people are in on it as a rat to spur them on.

I can't handle movies like this. After watching Saw and Saw II I stopped watching these types of films altogether. I like horror movies that are goofy gory, like the Evil Dead. Interesting psychological concepts of course, but I just can't handle torture.
