Hey, how is everyone doing?

Alright, let me give you some background first. I'm a skeptical twenty-something male. I've always been a sciency, rational person, not the sort to believe in ghosts, the metaphysical, or the esoteric. To be completely honest, I still am that way, and believe things such as astrology, tarot, magic, homeopathy, bla bla are completely false. No offense intended, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I completely respect people who do believe in such things, like many in this forum, or so I have inferred.

However, in the past months some stuff has been happening to me that I really don't understand, and for which I have found no scientific or medical explanation, at least after scouring the internet, and I'm really going to try avoiding the doctor, due to the nature of what's happened. So that is why I'm here, wasting your time, sorry. I'm just curious what the esoteric have to say about this.

Okay, I see eyes when I go to sleep. When I close my eyes, and after a little while, I think when I'm relaxed and comfortable, though not yet sleepy, I start seeing eyes with my eyes closed. You know how if you press your fists into your eyes you see colors, points of light and stuff? And that when you close your eyes (without doing anything to them) , it's not complete 100% darkness in there, it's something like a misty darkness or something, with faint grey stuff swirling around.

Well, in that darkness, when I'm relaxed at night, I see eyes. They always appear a single eye at a time. They are very well defined. From a bit blurry at first, to a very clear image once I've been focusing on seeing the eyes. A really sharp image, including the faint shimmer of reflected light in the pupils. They vary in size, I'd say from what would be the size of a pigeon eye, or mouse eye, to what would be a bigger than human eye.

The eye is human, I think. It's not slitted like a cat's eye or anything. And it comes in varying states of emotion. Sometimes a wide eye (surprised eye, I guess, or startled), sometimes indifference, sometimes what I would interpret to be anger or mistrust (slightly closed on one side).

Yesterday I experimented to see if I could still see them inside the covers (complete darkness), with my eyes open, to rule out any weird effect stuff in my room could be having through my closed eyelids (a piece of metal reflecting a tiny ray of light, or something) and I could, after a while. So it's more of a matter of not having visual stimuli, I think, and then I can see it.

Let me tell you, the first few times, I was completely freaked out and scared. Now I voluntarily try to see them, because I'm curious.

This all began two or three months ago. Three or four months ago I had another weird thing happen to me, which it occurs to me could be linked. I went to bed and experienced sleep paralysis and then some really strong vibrations, and then the trippiest dream I ever had. It was a lucid dream, I was conscious inside the dream, really scared, and could see my room, though it was a warped, dream version of it. I could see everything in tru life quality, and saw some really weird stuff, like a floating glob of a shiny gel like substance hovering at the feet of my bed, sort of like a lava lamp's contents, and the lining in my sheets was luminiscent. I tried doing ordinary stuff too, like looking at the alarm clock on my nightstand (blurred), and switching off the lights, which didn't turn on. I floated, and did other stuff I won't elaborate on for the sake of brevity. It was very cool, but at least, sleep paralysis, vibrations, and lucid dreams are all medically explained, if not yet completely understood.

So, really sorry for the extremely long post, but I really want to know, does anyone have something to say about the eyes? Is there some text on a book or something I can find online that speaks of phenomena like these?

Hi marcoscarcasa. Welcome to the forum

Your not alone, in that a great number of people involved in the esoteric started off as skeptical, sciencey types. I think most would be a bit put out by the implication that they have lost rationality... I hope most of the serious ones keep a hold of that at least!

As to your visions of eyes, can't explain it either, I'm afraid. Mine started with heads of people. Some who I knew, others complete strangers. The strangers were the scary ones... as, like you, they would often pass with no interest, other times they'd look startled, as if they weren't expecting to see me, and other times they could be quite angry. I don't go looking for them, but occassionally they'll pop up as I'm nodding off.

Hope somebody else can be more assistance on your question.

What an interesting situation you have yourself here.

Well i am sure that Celtaur and others have more experience with these matters i feel inclined to throw in my experience.

So first lets look at the symbolic significance behind the eyes and hopefully that can tie into the psychological significance. Eyes are a powerful symbol, frequently used in Masonic imagery. Throughout ancient times they have been thought of as the window to the soul (regardless of the fact that we have 4 other senses). I would encourage you do some quick reading on eye symbols to brush up. Now, from your description these are TWO eyes not just a single eye correct? You've stated that these eyes are in varied states of emotional content and some might even look ambivalent. These are emotional queues fairly unique to the human condition. So we have a pair of (bodiless?) floating eyes, of probable hominid origins staring back at you in a state of sustained darkness. I find stating seemingly basic observations a helpful exercise when probing issues like these.

I had a very potent dream once where a small pack of wolves were staring at me with an unflinching and .... knowing... look. It was a very disconcerting experience so I can relate to your feeling of confusion and concern. Eyes elicit the most emotion in human complexion so Id like to ask what emotions you feel when you view these eyes. Do your emotions influence the eyes or vice versa?

So I am afraid ive given you only more questions, with few answers but I just feel like im taking a swing in the dark without more descriptive comment.

I have three possible causes:

1 - Practical - You have developed a form of light sensitivity in which these shapes manifest as imprinted light images.

2- Psychological - You have developed a small psychosis in which your subconscious mind has become personified in the shapes of illusory eyes that reflect the current emotional/psychological state of your mind.

3- Spiritual - You have (somehow?) activated your previously inactive and innate 3rd eye. Sound like hogwash? Look up a little about the pineal gland, you may find it interesting. Especially in concern to the lucid dream.

BTW i too was a skeptic in regards to most things spiritual and metaphysical. Not three years ago I was a very different person....this may be a little out of place but i feel it is relevant so let me quote Dumbldore when harry asks "if it is all just in his head"

Just remember that science is a powerful tool for understanding the way the universe works, but when dealing with the infinite, rationality is at fault

No, I specifically said it's a single eye every time. Just to give you an update, I continue to see them, though now it's sort of mundane to me. It's also easier now to see the eyes with more sharpness than it was before, through focusing. I admit I haven't tried to experiment a lot further with them, When I go to bed lately I sort of want to fall sleep, so I "ignore" them, so to speak, and that drastically reduces their appearances.

I appreciate the given replies, and would certainly appreciate more of them. Any more light on this subject would be great.

Do your emotions influence the eyes or vice versa?

Sorry, forgot to answer this question. My emotions have no influence over the eyes, nor do they over my emotions. At least not since the first few times when I would be scared. I'm a really stable person who is almost never in a state other than a sort of content calm, therefore the prevalence of different emotions shown by the eyes leads me to think they don't portray my own emotions, nor are they influenced by them in any way.
