I don't like to talk political, as it's very divisive. But I do like to encourage focus on the environment. The earth is such a beautiful place that deserves respect and reverence. Nature is Divine, we have the responsibility to focus our love and attention towards it.
I agree. I was thinking about this the other day. I really don't think that the governments have any intentions on changing things for the environment. If they did they would be speaking about it regularly, if not daily. They simply don't really put any effort into talking about it. Also, if they were truly interested in making the changes they would be focusing on supporting the myriad of scientists and engineers to create new, efficient ways of harnessing energy, making new cars. We have over six billion people on earth. There are so many intelligent, innovative thinkers in the field of science and engineering. There is no limit to the possibilities to make change, yet these possibilities are not supported. Governments don't put emphasis on supporting these types of advances by encouraging growth in these areas.
It is quite a joke to think that Governments care about the environment or making changes, because it is so obvious. If they did wish to truly focus on these areas, they would be talking about it regularly and publicly. They don't. Luckily many of the citizens of this world are waking up, and focusing their energy in the right direction. It's too bad the system suppresses evolution.
You mentioned plastic bottles. I personally don't buy plastic bottled water, it is incredibly wasteful.. a waste of energy, a waste of gas (transportation - not to mention water is extremely heavy which amounts to a lot of extra pollution when transported), a waste of plastic (which is also made from oil), a waste of money...
Many people throw out their plastic bottles as well rather than recycling them. One thing that bothered me years ago when I used to travel by mass transit bus route was the amount of coffee cups and lids thrown inside and around the bus shelter, as if it were a dump. I couldn't understand the consciousness of such people to litter and disrespect their environment in such a way. If this type of unconscious mess is an external expression of what is going on internally, it is truly sad to know that there are so many unaware people on this planet.
I'm so glad that we are able to come together in places like this and raise each others awareness. Even the little things make a huge impact. If we can't depend on the governments, at least we can do our part as best we can and learn and share with each other how we can make a difference.

I don't like to think of the change in such a negative way. We do have the intelligence to make changes smoother. How long do people keep their vehicles for these days - 5-8 years? If new vehicles starting to be developed by the massive amounts of intelligent scientific thinkers and engineers, there's no ethical reason why they couldn't be on the market soon enough. With people buying the new vehicles the environment would start to slowly change. It will take time, but with the potentials that we can tap into with intelligence from economic to scientific endeavors, the world could change.
