Divination & Astrology: What lies beneath…

We live in troubled times. People are looking for guidance, support and for something that can alleviate their troubles, whether purely perceived or observable.

Most of all, they’re looking for answers.

So where do they go?

To a church, mosque, synagogue or temple and lay their burdens down in front of a higher power in the hope that all their pain and troubles will miraculously go away and are disillusioned if they don’t.

[If God is omnipresent, then why do we need to waste valuable real estate on places of worship (and golf courses) that we can use to house the homeless. Courtesy, George Carlin.]

I’ve done it too… so I’m cynical (and realistic) enough to know that if this was the case, we’ll all be free from our pain instantly, by just dropping a prayer of your very favorite divinity. Happy campers that we are…

But that isn’t what happens and what follows is a phase of agnosticism and perhaps, in some cases… the Prodigal returns ‘home’ to the delight of those who have missed him/ her… perhaps due to the swine flu!

This Prodigal son won’t! Yes, me. Just because of one word: Astrology.

Despite risking the popular refrain of: God will punish you… I believe in Science… What? Are you nuts?

Firstly, I do nuts AND berries too. And when did science begin to accept the idea of ‘belief’? Is this because the Pope accepted the fact that Darwin’s theory of evolution is valid so recently?

O Ye of Little Faith… welcome to the real world, perhaps.

Well, well, well… this is one big jamboree, now that the science vs. religion debate is suitably interpreted and resolved?

And at this point, you won’t be wrong to note that I’m not fond of religion in whichever form, and for very valid reasons too. Watch Bill Maher’s Religulous… perhaps a starting point in your personal journey of truth.

For me that starting point began when in working as a proofreader for a spiritualist called Kabir Jaffe, and had to read a copy of ‘Indigo Adults: Forerunners of the New Civilization’.

Your browser may not support display of this image. Simply brilliant! Get a copy for yourselves…

What I took away from the book was the first part that spoke about the Wheel of Dharma and Christianity being a result of the Age of Pisces.

And the questions raged within…

And thanks to the miracle of the internet, I managed to find Carl Jung’s interpretation of astrology (in particular, the Age of Pisces & the Rise of Christianity) in his letters to both Freud and a Hindu astrologer, B.V Raman.

And all I could think was: “Fuck!” as opposed to just saying, “Wow”! Hehe.

So let’s talk about the Age of Pisces and its relationship (briefly) with Christianity which will tell you why I’m happily Prodigal-ized and would like to stay that way.

The Age of Pisces & Christianity

Carl Jung made one observation which talks about fish (being a symbol of Pisces) pops up throughout the books of the Bible. That’s not all. All Piscean attributes are similar (if not identical) to the tenets of Christianity. The signs are all there!

The most significant of all being that Jesus sacrificed himself because of the Father’s unconditional love for humanity. [Read: sacrifice & unconditional love are the foremost of Piscean attributes]

Complicity or coincidence, you think?

Perhaps, your next question would be: So what?

If one should use logic in studying Carl Jung’s analysis of the Age of Pisces, it’s obvious that if one believes in Christianity… you’re actually validating the existence of astrology too.

One cannot exist without the other.

But most of all, I understood that in the larger scheme of things: “Christianity was just another phenomenon, much like all the wars, bloodshed and gore that occurred during the Age of Aries.”

I can go just as far to say that almost every religion is subject to interpretation which changes ever so often but astrology has always been about the planets, houses, signs of the zodiac, aspects and INTUITION ever since its earliest days.

Consistency is a much desired trait these days. (winky wink)

Going forward: The Age of Aquarius is upon us…

Fast-forward to today that most astrologers consider being the dawn of the Age of Aquarius, as the amount of progress in almost every field made in the last ten years of the twentieth century exceeds the progress made in the last ninety… thanks to efforts in research, development and invention and most of all, technology – all very distinctive Aquarian traits.

And you can see the breakdown of the Piscean empire that has been built by so-called rebels that Kabir Jaffe’s book refers to as the ‘Indigo Souls’ that are spawning a new generation of sorts with different ideals and abilities.

Evolution, if you will.

And since astrology is ruled by the planet Uranus, the ruling planet of Aquarius, trust me… it’s going to be around for a long long time to come! New Age Spirituality… if you will!

In Closing…

If you consider most of what was written here as far-fetched, then you’re right! But you can’t blame me as my approach is similar to the asymmetric prophetic rants & interpretation that we see on numerous counts in conventional religion.

The only (and compelling) difference though, is that I would choose to base these thoughts on the sages of yore and the system that they put in place (by divine inspiration, if you will) as well as on the thoughts of one of the Fathers of Modern Psychology, who verified the validity of astrology.

In closing, I would like to leave you with a quote on astrology by Carl Jung, which shouldn’t be so hard to digest: “We are born at a given moment in a given place and like vintage years of wine we have the qualities of the year and of the season in which we are born. Astrology does not lay claim to anything else.”
