It’s officially a New Moon in Gemini on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 5:02pm EST.

From now until the Summer Solstice in a few weeks the sunlight hours are increasing, and so is the heat. Let this be a time you let your very best way of thinking about you and your life shine and it will grow.

This new moon is also a solar eclipse which heightens the intensity of the relationship of us with the moon and sun. With the eclipse in Gemini we’ll all recognize the importance of how we think and communicate needs to be renewed. A new light will come on.

Mercury is the ruler of Gemini. Mercury is at the very last stages of visiting Taurus, where our minds have been enjoying taking in nature this spring and focused on other earthly aspects of our lives. On Thursday, Mercury will be moving from Taurus into Gemini, and will feel right at home piquing our mindfulness.

Mercury is an ancient Roman deity, and Hermes to the Greeks. He is the “messenger to the gods”. He’s a quick mover, a communications guru. Don’t be surprised if you have thoughts and idea’s arrive instantaneously pulling you towards a new direction you hadn’t previously considered. Trust it, follow it, see where it leads.

Although logical considerations will be poignant, your spiritual mind-frame may also be up for a new perspective. Whatever you held onto as the truth, may suddenly transform when new information comes in that makes sense to you. It’s ok to ask questions, and find answers that make logical sense to you. Our intellect is an important part of the whole, and doesn’t need to be pushed to the side to make our philosophies work.

Although many of your conclusions may be rationalized, they may also arrive to you in more ethereal ways. Deeper insights with moments of eureka are possible. What messages are you getting these days? Pay close attention.

This is a great time for meditation and yoga and attentiveness to nutrition. With Mercury just on the cusp, leaving Taurus and moving into Gemini, there is mind and body connection happening now, and the eclipse will emphasize that strongly in many of us.

Neptune may slightly cloud your vision of reality now, stretching fog over your perceptions.  Those who are naturally inclined to be manipulative may pull out the trickster side of Mercury. Taurus’ influence will help keep this possibility grounded though. Stay focused on what feels right and true for clearer judgment.

We’re now urged to get clearer on what we want to start and put into practice in our lives that aligns our whole self in body, mind and spirit. Have you been doing anything that distracts you from feeling like you’re moving on the right path for your life? If so, the right information or idea’s will come to you quickly, compelling you to get back on track.

Keep your thoughts organized. If you write them down, try not to spread them randomly in numerous books or software applications. Less is more, and easier to revisit. Lists will also be helpful.

Meeting new people, reaching out, having new conversations is also auspicious now and can take you in a new direction you hadn’t considered.

Social networking is also strongly situated with that Mercury/Gemini communications influence. With the eclipse announced with Mercury at the end of Taurus, flying on winged feet into Gemini the next day, the social networking push right now isn’t just for online. Meeting people in person will be important for many. This doesn’t mean you should meet that stranger from online; it means people you come into contact with in person, and quite suddenly so, can be important movers in your life.

New, personal contacts can turn you towards an all new train of thought. It could be through work or leisure. Either way the new people you meet could significantly alter your course.

If you’ve been avoiding talking to someone, ask yourself why? A part of you that feels uncomfortable may need to be recognized so you can move above it. If the reason is internal fears, reconnecting with the person may be the beginning breaking down personal walls you build against others.

Gossip? Well, what is gossip really? Asking questions, wondering about other people’s choices, and motives is natural. After all, we are social creatures. We’re interested in other people, and learn through others experiences.  However, when you’re hurtful toward another it doesn’t serve anyone, especially yourself. Talking about other people is really a reflection of your own idea’s, your likes and dislikes, your judgments of what you do and don’t accept. For many though, it can be a cover up, a distraction from what’s really bothering you about yourself, or how you think and feel about yourself.

This is a great time to ask ourselves the very questions of why we don’t accept things in other people. What does it say about ourselves? At the end of the day, what we say, think and do has more to do with ourselves than it does anybody else.

Conversations with someone you trust can be healing. You may realize the inner light in someone else and yourself is shared.

Venus and Mars remain in close contact in Taurus. Bonding through arts, food, wine, walks in nature will be romantically pleasing.

Jupiter moves into Taurus on Saturday. He’s been in Aries for months now bringing renewal of energy this spring. Passion, enthusiasm and drive have been supported with a lot of luck if you’ve taken the reigns towards creating new, successful endeavors in your life.

Jupiter does lead to disappointment for some though. If you have overly high expectations, the crash when you don’t get what you had your heart set on can hurt bad. However, Jupiter always has our best interest in mind if you can take the experience from a philosophical point of view and see how you are actually growing a lot from it. Pluto lends Jupiter positive vibes for our transformation and ambitions now. Put on some rose colored glasses to see the abundance. It will make all the difference.

Get rid of anything that is cluttering your lifestyle and thoughts. It’s a great time to enjoy the great wide open. Fresh, clean, open spaces will help you feel more alive and abundant.

Clear views of oceans, mountains, and fields will provide you with clarity of mind this weekend and beyond. This is great visual for meditations that can open you up to realizing a bigger personal philosophy of your life than you’ve had before.

Traveling to destinations far away will make your life feel like it’s broadening your opportunities and abilities. If you can’t travel now, you can always visualize and philosophize. Wherever you may be, how does nature speak to you? The messages you get could be bigger than you think.

We’ll all be drawn to develop our earthly comforts. The desire for stability, security and good food are all heaping on our plates. What can you do to make yourself more comfortable? You’ll be granted opportunities for personal growth in the practical area’s of your life, like money. How do you see yourself not only making more money, but enjoying the money you have? It starts with an idea.

Overindulgence won’t be uncommon for many, such as in spending, food, and the luxuries. However, if you want to really feel abundant don’t overdo it because credit card bills at the end of the month will strip away that feeling of abundance in no-time. Instead, indulge only in what serves your overall larger picture, like putting money towards an investment this is likely to return to you regular installments of feeling abundant.

Investing in stocks is one thing, but what about investing in your own business? Do you want to start doing something that will not only make money but will feel fulfilling? This is a good time to put yourself in a position to grow what it is you really want to do. Are you artistically inclined? Now’s the time. What you create, or discover you’d love to create, could become an ingenious way to make extra income and for some may impressively turn into a living.

As always, we talk about astrology holistically, and discuss many planetary movements. The moon and sun don’t have a lot of aspects going on during this new moon and eclipse. The most noteable would be the relationship with Saturn and it’s a positive one. Making responsible choices with common sense will do you best. Anything from your past that has needed attention, you’ll find more clarity comes through now with your newest idea’s being great contenders for the final say. You’ll also notice if you have a tendency to be hard on yourself, self-judging, it can get easier now.

Take note of all your ideas, weigh the pros and cons carefully. There’s like to be a few variables to consider. Indecisive people should meditate on any concerns for a bit. Asking someone you trust for advice, or their third party input could also be helpful in figuring out what the best option may be.

During this New Moon and eclipse, enjoy having new awareness of your thoughts and where they can take you. Focus on your mind and body connection. Write down your daydreams, and enjoy meeting new people. Go outside, put on some sunscreen and enjoy it.

It’s officially a Full Moon in Scorpio on Tuesday May 17, 2011 at 7:08am EST.

This Full Moon brings us to a time of transformation deep within us all. Like the wisdom of a seed within, we know there is personal power in us that is hidden.

Strong shifts in emotions are evident to ourselves, although not always displayed to others because of our personal internalization. This full moon can prompt them to suddenly burst forth. Inside us all there is another world others rarely see. The deeper parts of ourselves are shifting and have been growing in recent days.

However, for all this depth we are accessing, it isn’t all so clear what we think we are understanding about ourselves in our spiritual purpose. There are a lot of spiritual questions we’re having within, and it can be hazy. Our emotions aren’t giving us direct answers or clarity.

We can feel like we’re diving in, then coming up for air and having to let the water out of our goggles to go down again to see what’s there. Take a deep breath to go deeper.

What we do know about ourselves can rise from the ashes, providing a rebirth in understanding of what we can do with our personal power.

If life feels like a power struggle, shifting your use of power from a self centered approach to help empower others will transform your life experience. What strong emotional depth have you lived through that gave you a personal awareness to understand how others feel? How can you use your understanding to turn around others lives from feeling powerless to feeling empowered?

Parts of ourselves can be healed through emotional bonds. The act of realizing what we’re giving and what another is receiving shows us purpose in life. What do you have to give that can be healing to someone you have an emotional connection to? What you share, can reach deep to someone.

With all this knowing coming up, some may feel they know it all though. If ego gets in the way, suspicions of others may arise, a type of false knowing. Although passion gives meaning to our lives, if untamed it can lead to places that move us away from candle light harmony, towards burning flames that need an extinguisher. People with an unbalanced disposition may tip the scale to embellish in their own fanaticism.

There is a possibility of manipulation from self interested people who won’t rest until they get their way. Recognize it may be prompting your suspicions. Use your own power of intuition to see the truth without jumping to conclusions about others intentions. Confrontation without all the facts won’t do you well. Honor your ability to attract honesty from others so you can discuss things in a more open way. If you get a strong, intuitive signal that honesty isn’t a priority, you can walk away for now, and wait until the time feels more right for the conversation to take place.

This is not the time to reveal other people’s secrets, it will only lead to strong emotional confrontation. It’s time to relax, lay back and let things lay low in these regards. Respect other people’s privacy and think before you say the wrong thing.

Those who are inclined to explore the mysteries of life will find now is a good time to ask deep questions. Being in a natural environment, near the ocean, quietly under a tree, or staring up at the moon and stars can lead to potent realizations that have long been a mystery to you.

Pondering ancient cultural mysteries and the magic of the universe is supported now. It may feel right to keep things more secretive as you’re unsure if sharing can be handled now with those around you. If you know people in to that area of thought you may be urged to discuss it for the shear need to delve deeper into the discovery.

Dreams can be revealing, bringing up hidden fears. Take them as they are, use them as tools for self awareness.

You can use the intuitive knowing for good, and it can be spontaneous. One moment you may have your mind on the practical then move into a creative spirit in an instant. One minute you’re doing yard work, the next thing you know you’re in front of the canvas painting up a storm. You’ll suddenly realize you’re making magic happen before your eyes and wonder where it came from.

Go for it with unbridled passionate instinct to create. Unleash yourself  when inspired to in positive ways.

Music from your past will stir emotions of how you felt when you were a teenager with hormones racing, big dreams and expectations of life’s opportunities with emotional intensity. The power of music imprints on our minds with deep roots. Enjoy the feelings these memories bring to you. Ask how you can use these feelings to your benefit.

In Scorpio’s influence, how does sex relate to your identity? How does the force of sexuality bring meaning to life? Although some have negative connotations attached to sex, and like all things it can be abused, in it’s truth it is the prime mover of life. Within the world, seeds hold life’s wisdom of the universe, they grow towards the light. Flowers are opening around us everywhere these days, giving birth to the beauty of the world. We all hold this beauty within us, and we are driven from the core of our being to shine our personality in honoring our natural union with this life force.

Birth gives way to death, and here we are, in between, granted the experience to know who we are. Our lives are wide open to a spectrum. Like a magical formula, an alchemy of transformation through experiences and choices, we create and destroy, move forward and leave behind parts of ourselves. We are all so powerfully moved by others, and we move others through our passions and desires.

Self confidence can be lacking now for some, feeling weak in area’s and hearing complainers will be noticeable. If you’re depressed or pessimistic, counter it with actively pursuing spontaneous shifts in attitude to distract you from your own lingering doubts. Acknowledge the pattern and tell yourself you’re going to choose otherwise.

This is a time of powerful transformation. With Mercury, Venus and Mars in harmony with Pluto now we are realizing the importance of transformation happening in mind, body and spirit. The transformation happens over time though, and is not so sudden, although the initiating urge may come on suddenly. Saturn and Uranus show us balance in our freedom, with sudden inspirations being held by responsible choice. Patiently choosing optimal timing in our actions lead us to better outcomes.

Jupiter shows us we can achieve the bigger idea’s in our life and supports our actions. Your willingness to be proactive and go after your desires reaps success. Jupiter does tend to lean towards great expectations, and if we’re not careful can create our own disappointments. Realize what you set in motion now can come to fruition later. This is a time to plant seeds that can grow into great oaks, be patient. Life is a process.

Do something athletic outside. If you’re not a sports oriented person, a hike in the woods is enough to balance your craving for earth bound connection and appreciation for the physical world, including your body. Taking more time to be outside is much better for everyone’s mind these days than being glued to electronic devices. If you are going to be on electronics be sure your time is spent wisely.

Giving flowers to your romantic partner, or making a delicious dinner will naturally bring  out warmth, affection and magnetism. Sit at the table together instead of mindlessly distracted in front of the tv or computer when you eat.

Talking business, or financial planning can bring an element of security, achievement and excitement for your future. Materialism has a stronger attachment to us all now, with Venus in it’s ruling sign, Taurus. If the importance of materialism and money is thought of in a healthy way it can align us with a more solid foundation and provide grounding to our lives.

Art appreciation is heightened now, try your hand at making something beautiful yourself or visiting an art gallery with fresh eyes.

Gardening and landscaping around your home will give you an opportunity to express yourself. If you have a balcony add new flower pots. Inside your home you could use a few new plants. Moving plants to different locations can change up the feel of your home. Keeping them watered, fertilized and with appropriate sunlight will create a vibrant atmosphere that will support balancing your emotions and sense of well being.

This Scorpio Full Moon gives us personalized intensity. Things deeply hidden may be brought forth. Focus on trusting your life more now and those around you to bring more harmony into your life. Gently step away from anything and anyone that doesn’t feel right now, you can always revisit later for more clarity.

To keep yourself in balance during the Full Moon, focus on sustaining a magical point of view about the natural world. See the light pouring out of the life force all around you.

Welcome back to Tarot Notes at Symbolic Living.

This is an exciting week. Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting married. Over 2 billion people are expected to see The Royal Wedding on April 29,2011.

30 years ago, Princess Diana and Prince Charles were married, in 1981.

Couples. How beautiful it is when two people join in union to celebrate their love for one another and share their lives growing together.

Two is a fantastic number. It is what makes the awareness of union possible.

Although the Universe is One, it is also made up of millions of parts, which is all made possible when division into two occurs.

With Two, relationships are made possible. Without the dividing principle there is no division, no judgment, no comparison, no ego, no reflection. Duality is a primordial truth essential for our very existence and through it we have the power to choose.

Within the polarity is the beginning point that gives us understanding of what we call “other” opening the doorway to choice – Free Will.

Decisions can be made, change happens, a new direction is possible, and experience becomes a part of our reality.

The nature of existence is to experience movement between union and division and reveals itself in innumerable aspects of our lives. Dusk and dawn, you and me, light and dark, big or small, rise and fall, life and death, male and female, positive and negative, love or fear, good and evil… Each existing because the other exists.

Two is at the very core of our very being. Clearly evident in our bodies are an expression of this division, mirror images on each side of the center of our bodies, is a reflection of the other. When conceived two people join, the egg and sperm unite, and division of the cells begins dividing into two, multiplying into the many trillions of cells that make our bodies.

The possibilities for creation is endless when two is brought into reality. It is the starting point of life, and drives us to continue creating, living, and loving.

With two, perception is made possible. The question can be asked and an answer given.

The tarot is an artistic expression that reveals to us the nature of our reality and our place within it. Numbers are an important part of tarot, because numbers reveal universal truths.

The division began so the one could see itself. To experience relationship is the very foundation of why we exist.

For the One to have the Other, Love is made possible. The One can love the Other, and the Other can love the One. Choosing through Free Will to re-unite is made possible.

To understand the experience of another and relatively knowing the experience of the self, compassion is born.

The principles of two is seen throughout the tarot Major and Minor Arcana, just as it is in our lives, embedded in many of the cards meanings. We will get further into explanations as we go through the tarot.

For now, we hope we are inspiring you to thinking about the inescapable importance of two in the nature of your life’s reality.

The Mysteries of Fame

Today’s pop music culture is increasingly opening a window to The Mysteries. What Mysteries? The mysteries of ancient cultures, with a strong focus on the most mysterious of all – Egypt, Babylon and their symbolism.

Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Jayz, Kanye West and friends are currently at the top of the pop culture phenomenon which could be called the fame pyramid, looking out from the all seeing eye on their audience. One eye, gloves, baphomet, pentacles, Saturn, halo’s, pyramids, checkered floors are just some examples of the increasing use of symbols in music videos. These have been used before in the past by musicians, including the ultra famous David Bowie and Madonna. Recently they are becoming more prominent and frequent by pop-artists.

From a strictly marketing perspective, this symbolism could be placed strongly in videos to capture the wonder and curiosity of the audience. Fame, and super-stardom after all, is dependent on the audience wanting to know more about an artist. A factor strongly relating to the fusion of their persona with their art. This then develops an image of who they are, much like a symbol. The power of their image therefore holds meaning that relates to the viewer, yet still contains distance enough to continuously offer more interpretation. There’s more to unfold. The human persona therefore becomes the symbol to be interpreted.

To be a player in the high-end world of pop culture, a musicians impact is not only dependent on their music, but the symbolic representation of who they are. Increasingly the persona is uniting with powerful, symbolic imagery through photography and video to create an illusion of grand proportion.

Today’s pop artists reach heights of recognition and wonder akin to the mythology of Gods and Goddesses in ancient times. Who they are spans the globe connecting to the minds of billions. Concerts are designed to be an almost mystical experience with the star nearly being glorified as a God or Goddess. There is no coincidence in the use of the term “star” to label these artists. We’ve long been fascinated in wonder about the heavens. In the celtic druidic tradition, the Bard was the musician who shared the mystical stories, divinity, and were the tellers of the sacred stories of the mythological heroes. Now the musical artist, has become the story as the mythology surrounds who they are.

Much has been said and done in the industry and little is shocking or controversial these days. The appeal to the audiences desires of wanting to know more must be continuous, and reinvented regularly to keep things interesting. The general public are slightly familiar with some symbols in passing, yet vaguely aware of their meaning. This sets the perfect stage for mystery to provoke their attention further while also becoming a means of communicating with the audience in a subliminal way. Art by its very nature holds a variety of meanings and a lot of mystery dependent on the eye of the beholder.

When The Secret came out, it created quite a stir. It spread like wildfire, just as gossip does. We know, after all, pop culture is largely based on gossip contagiously spreading from one medium to the next, gaining interest along its path.

Gossip popularity reveals the human condition – peoples natural need to know more, and marketers take advantage of the opportunity. The Secret, certainly was named with clever marketing appeal. Everyone just had to know what the secret was right?

Now the secrets are embedded in lyrics, video’s, fashion and musicians personas. Often they are hidden in video’s only apparent to the analyst while others are dominantly apparent before the viewers eyes.

One can not know for sure who is the catalyst for the use of the mysteries in pop culture, whether it be artist, producer, cinematographer, collaborative development or other. What we do know is they are present, and considered an important part of today’s pop industry attraction. It’s not a fad that ancient culture’s symbols have been fascinating people for ages.

To perceive positively or negatively. It’s a matter of choice.

Where mysteriousness is present, conspiracies will assuredly follow in the mainstream and not surprisingly are easy to find. Remember also that conspiracies are often interpretations of bias meant to compartmentalize the subject into an ideology, depending on the interpreters personal and religious world view. Most usually the nature of a conspiracy theory is a negative message in general.

Are producers simply interested in ancient cultures? Are they interested in magical practices? Some say their magic isn’t limited to marketing the artists through the development of a mysterious persona; some believe they are using the symbols in video’s as part of powerful ritual magic. Others feel those in charge are freemason’s who have the knowledge and intention to convey the subliminal meaning of the symbols.

According to current conspiracy theories, Lady Gaga is considered the poster child for the Illuminati, and Beyonce’s alter ego Sasha Fierce is possessed by Lucifer. People are now wondering if the “good girl gone bad”, Rihanna, has actually gone to the dark side and is possessed by demons. From his Rocawear line designs, his seemingly contagious use of the pyramid sign (diamond), to his “secret” handshakes with Kanye West and his continuous, obsessive reference to the Rockefellers, JayZ is touted as a Freemason.

Conspiracies usually elaborate on fearful interpretations, and swing either way in terms of lack of awareness to the “highly illuminated”. One must ask the question though, where are those beliefs rooted from, and how are they used to influence the interpretation of the symbolism. Are those who use them, compartmentalizing the symbolism according to their own intentions and thus creating an illusionary meaning based on their ideologies?

In terms of conspiracies, it can not be known for sure who chooses to develop the popularly interpreted meaning, which is usually the negative interpretations as conspiracy theories go. Are the negative interpretations what the artists and producers are interested in projecting – an underlying conspiracy? Is it the viewer who is interpreting the imagery from the perspective of fear that are overshadowing the symbolism? Or are both sides lost in their ideologies that blasphemes the sacredness of ancient cultural spirituality and knowledge in sacred symbolism, veiling it in false views? Are the nature of the symbols being twisted for Dark Arts or are these people deeply interested in the shadow side of reality? Is it simply a natural aspect of art to incorporate symbolism.

In the West money is by far the most popular symbol. Is the use of the pyramid by today’s artists strictly representing money and thus what money can represent for power, the elite class, or negative connotations? Or are they praising their good luck, freedom and ability to enjoy the pleasures money can afford? Is the symbolism of the pyramid being referenced in pop-media as extensive as the ancient mysteries cosmology and mysticism of Ancient Egypt, the Trinity of Christian mysticism or Masonry? Does the one eye open and the other closed symbolize big brother, does it hold a universal symbolism depicted in the eye of horus or does it represent harmony of opposites, as can be seen in depictions of the Anima Mundi?

We may not know the real reason for the increasing use of the symbolism. Is it for enjoyment? Do these stars have a genuine interest in ancient symbolism? Do they really know the deeper meaning or are they playing it at face value? Are they simply doing it for controversy? Or again, is it back to marketing the mysterious?

Universal archetypes are by their very nature complex, with deep meaning, which is why they are mysterious and can not be easily compartmentalized into one interpretation.

One can be assured, from the perspective of authentic ancient cultural symbolism, any mainstream fearful interpretations are falsely being abused. Ancient mysteries and their source are, at their very essence, about the ascension to the Limitless Light of the Divine, the source of all reality. This Source is expressed in exoteric terms by religions in various ways, and in pop-culture, but at it’s very core, at it’s esoteric essence, anything that is truly spiritually based is authentic Oneness with Divinity.

Sexual instinct and raw animalistic desire that originates deep within the body.

Have I got your attention?

That’s what Mars is known for, and yeah, he’s also as the God of War. What does sex have to do with war? Perhaps everything.

When was the last time you felt passion and heat coursing through your veins? You noticed your sweat glands activate, your pupils dilate, your heartbeat increase. That feeling you had of adrenaline, drive, and the absolute masculine principal. It is the survival instinct. It is pure energy. Were you observing the object of your rage, or the object of your desire?

In times of war, whether that battle took place in a boardroom, a battlefield, or a bedroom, we have all had moments when we were required to assert our strength. That strength could be defined as physical, but likely also took on intellectual, emotional, and spiritual forms as well. It is in those moments that we are capable of such great feats that come to categorize defining moments in our lives. To the outside world, our feat may not appear so monumental at all. Internally, we know the self-respect that can be gained from perceiving a threat and rising to a challenge to prove to ourselves that we are worthy to survival. We assert ourselves. That’s Mars.

Mars is the masculine principal in its purest form. It is yang energy. The masculine principal is one of freedom, direction, focus, force, action, determination, drive, desire, and adventure. It contains the spiritual quality of acknowledging what your desire is, knowing to the core of us that you are worthy to realize and manifest those desires, feeling the strength of your own will, and directing that force towards the manifestation of your desire in assurance of its actualization. Mars, then, becomes the driving force towards self-actualization.

So lets get back to sex.

You knew I would.

Mars is also pure sexual magnetism without deliberation. The force that motivates us to self-actualize can be seen as the same energy that drives us to merge with another. It is in the merging with another on the physical level that we can feel most alive, most in contact with that animal force within us to realize our deepest, truest ambitions. Sex then becomes an unconscious pathway towards acknowledging that we have the energy, force, and will within us to actualize our dreams.

In the act of sex, we share something primal, intimate, and profound. We share an energy of immortality. Here Mars becomes the energy that has ensured the continuation of life and physical form, which is why Mars has also been associated with fertility. It is in the physical assertion of our animal instincts that we find the metaphor to assert our creative and intellectual instincts and drives. It is in our raw animalistic desire for another person that we can contact the yearning we have to merge and blend with the highest vision of ourselves.

It is also in the acknowledgement of our desire that we may contact our greatest fears and vulnerabilities as well. Perhaps this is where war also becomes a correlating factor. When exposing our fears we may become, well… frightened. In our emotional and spiritual nakedness, as mirrored with our naked bodies, our defenses may rise. These defenses may be a part of our learned survival instincts. As we expose ourselves we risk rejection and humiliation. As a way to protect ourselves from appearing weak, we may launch our own version of a missile attack. This can take the most subtle forms of holding energy back, focusing our attention only on the most base, physical aspects of ourselves, or reducing ourselves and others so that we are willing to perceive only the animalistic. These are all ways to control, and ultimately subdue, the profoundly transformative power of Mars.

We can’t discuss Mars without also bringing up the issue of Anger. Some Chinese medicinal practitioners have articulated that anger is one of the most spiritual of emotions. Without anger, we are passively blowing with the current of life. With anger, we recognize when we are off our true path. We acknowledge that we are living below our capabilities. We admit to ourselves that we are no longer in alignment with our soul’s calling. We need the absolute passion and drive of righteousness to compel us into driven action. This realization can be incredibly painful. It is the pain that supports our rage. What we do with our rage can lead to healing. Translating anger into action that is directed towards our soul’s growth and most authentic expression. Finding the passion to refuse to live a life beneath you. This is the transformative power of Mars.

Passion is the stuff of life. It is the mirror to what we care about most. What we are most passionate about we give the most energy to. We can choose to channel this energy towards truly significant developments in our lives. And of course, passion is an exalted emotion to share with another person in the embrace of physical intimacy.

It is in our most passionate moments that we work through things on an energetic, cellular level. We are not caught up in our intellect, with the concerns of what the next day may bring, with our pains of the past, or daily rituals. When we are most in touch with Mars energy we are completely and utterly in the moment. We are channeling something uncomfortable and yet divine at the same time. This energy moves through us with a fierceness that can be felt. It is heat and urgency burning through our veins in the determination to get us into the present moment. By focusing only on what is right in front of us, whether what is in front of us is an emotional threat, trigger to our deep wounds, sense of identity, or sexual ecstasy, we make the Most of Mars.

With Mars, all emotions and sentiments meld into one. We are motivated towards the direction of resolution. That resolution can come in the form of an unexpected outburst, a measured conversation, massive change in our habitual patterns, or an orgasm. With the melding of forces within us, so too do the emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and sexual all meld into one.

The sign that Mars was in at the time of birth represents our mode of being when we are kicked into primal action. Whether that action was displayed in our childhoods, as adults in time’s of stress, or in our most passionate moments of physical intimacy. The house placement represents where we instinctively focus our energy. The way that Mars speaks within us to the world and to others will characterize our interactions, whether those interactions are sexual or survival based.

Mars energy can be harnessed to work with when attributes of courage, honesty, passion, instinct, enthusiasm, sheer will, and in some cases fertility (though there are more stable energies to work with if you desire fruition) are desired to be cultivated. Mars gets you started. He is the impetus and faith to launch your desires. Mars doesn’t hold much softness to it. He’s great for going into battles of a physical nature, like competitive sports, sexual drive, and facing our deep fears with new actions, but not so great when the intellect and emotions are needed in measured quantities. The best times to work with Mars energy is when he is in a harmonious aspect to another planet that also contributes to your desired manifestations.
