Three Witches and a Little Devil

This 1987 film is timeless, top-notch, fun entertainment starring the fantastically talented Jack Nicholson who plays “Just your average horny little Devil”. Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer create the trinity that gets involved with the mysterious man that’s moved into the small town in a mansion where witches were burned years ago.

They take on the roles of desperate, lonely, emotionally drained women immediately drawn to the seductive spell of Daryl Van Horn and transformed in the process as he brings their deep rooted psychological profiles to the surface and promises changes they’ve been wishing for. See the scene at the ending of part 3 and beginning of part 4 below, where Daryl turns Alex (Cher) from disgust to pure devilish delight she can’t say no to.

The Witches of Eastwick also stars Veronica Cartwright (Felicia) who becomes obsessed, even possessed with conviction by her strong feelings something terribly evil is brewing in town. Her performance is powerful, as she too is transformed from within into a paranoid victim of the devils hand (see her in part 4 bring forth her rage in an unforgettable scene). The archetypal motifs and roles of Witches, Sex, The Devil, Magick Spells, all intertwine in this horror-comedy in many scenes you won’t soon forget.  Be careful what you wish for, how you cast a spell and who you’re with when you do.
