Mozart's The Magic Flute - with a new context

The 18th century European opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is being presented at the Vancouver Opera House with a First Nations flavor set in the 21st century.

The Magic Flute is an allegory portraying the advancement of humanity from superstitious religiosity to rational enlightenment with the intention to make "the Earth a heavenly kingdom, and mortals like the gods". The context of this version merges First Nations and colonial traditions.

Mozart was a Freemason; The Magic Flute has strong Masonic elements and symbolism throughout.
